There is some light palm muting going on, and if I was setting up that sound on my rig I'd put on the compressor and some light chorus.

I would search funk guitar loops for something similar.

I think Dubspot does a good job. If you learn well in a classroom setting it can get you up to speed quicker than watching a lot of Youtube videos.

As far as two DS1's I don't see why not but I haven't tested such a setup. I'll look into it for you.
