Re: How to start playback from beginning of project?

Create an arrangement marker at 1.1.1.1, then right-click on the marker and select Play From Here.

Ehhhhhh…. Young pup! I went from a beige Mac Performa Someting to a G4 tower waaay back in 2000AD, and it was like “ohhh you really can do viable audio recordings on these machines!” 😀

Re: The move from Live 11 to 12

It’s a new install that sits quite happily alongside Live 11. 12 inherits all of 11’s libraries and file-paths automatically. You might have to manually set one or two minor settings in Live 12’s preferences to match your 11 settings, but never anything major like sound libraries etc. In the new bro...

Re: JUST SWITCHED TO NEW MAC AND LIVE IS HANGING

but is there a systematic way I can go about confirming if my plug ins are up to date and compatible with the Apple M chips? YES Follow the advice in this video. This video is 18 months old now (from when M1 was new), but the how-to’s on checking plugin compatibility is still absolutely up to date....

Re: 15 Ways To Make Your Bland Songs Slap

Can I offer one? Basslines. Many basslines are a two- or four-bar repeating pattern. Once you’ve got a rough structure for your tune, take the time to re-play your bassline start-to-finish over the full length of your song. You’ll probably get bored playing it over and over. This is a good thing! Yo...

Re: Playback in Arrangement view always starts from beginning

Any Arrange marker can have “Play from here” status if you right-click the marker and select this.

Do you have such a marker at the start of the timeline?

Re: Using Push 3 MPE/Poly AT with non MPE plugins

Oh, you're not talking Standalone here, right? I wasn't :) I can't speak for greenscreens :) Is there a methodology of splitting the incoming MIDI into a set of control signals that (multiple in tracks? / multiple in racks?) Non-MPE / non-polyphonic aftertouch instruments can receive on a per note ...

Re: Using Push 3 MPE/Poly AT with non MPE plugins

Would love to know the answer to this as well. I have some custom instrument racks with a combination of Samplers and Kontakt instruments that I’d love to get per-note modulation happening on.

Can anybody please point us to a methodology for achieving this? 😀

Re: some keys of my midi controller doesn't work

Just to add to the above, you need to have Live’s browser open while in MIDI mapping mode to see the list of MIDI mappings. The list appears on the right where the browser normally is.

Re: Visual Lags with Ableton 11.3.4 on Mac after migration from old intel system

I may need to unplug every device, reset the macOS again and just install Ableton plain to the fresh system to ensure that these issues are not caused by any other software or any device. Wish me luck! Good luck!! But seriously, you’re going about it exactly the right way - reduce the number of var...

Re: Visual Lags with Ableton 11.3.4 on Mac after migration from old intel system

Counterpoint: I migrated from Intel to M1 with no major problems. Here’s a video, it’s over a year old now, but I found it very helpful in understanding how the systems differ, how to check where Intel code is still running and being translated on-the-fly by Rosetta, plus I got helpful info about a ...

Re: Reset Crossfader to Middle Position

Absolutely! Faderfox are some of the most programmable controllers out there! My band uses a PC12 and MX12 ganged together as a mixing desk, see the pic below, on the Dub Channel at far left there's a button surrounded by yellow tape marked RESET that does what it says on the tin after we've bent th...

Re: Reset Crossfader to Middle Position

Hi Chris, so Live’s crossfader is mapped to a MIDI Continuous Controller message that’s sending out a value of 0 (at full left) moving through to 127 (at full right). What you want to do is send a CC value of 63 to center the crossfader. There are a few ways to do this. First, what MIDI controller a...
