Re: Any ableton Live users in London?
I know a few central venues that would be up for us putting nights on (without charging us for venue hire) but who'd be less likely to let us use their PA for a meeting (unless it was very well attended, I guess...) But, after a few false starts, and having chatted to Martin (mindlobster) about this...

Re: Novation LAUNCHPAD: new dedicated controller for Live!!!
Would really love to see (or hear) a walkthrough of exactly what's happening in the video. Ableton...?
But I want one.
No, make that two...

Re: Anti-shock hard drives?
No jumper required (Phil Collins reference???) Heh heh. Or you could have gone for the Sultans of Ping FC ("Wait a minute... where's me jumper?") Just fitted my ST9500420AS here too. 8) Was easier than I expected (followed the instructions at http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,211...

Re: Anti-shock hard drives?
OS X has a similar shock-reaction built into is os anyway. When it notices fast movement, like being dropped etc, it stops the harddrive spinning. Ah, I didn't know that... However, I'm usually running Windows XP via Bootcamp (I have the odd Windows-only VST) so unless it's included there too, this...

Anti-shock hard drives?
I'm thinking of replacing my MBP's hard drive with a 500GB model - probably a Seagate Momentus 7200.4. There's a "G-Force" version of this that locks the heads if it notices gravitational acceleration (i.e. if you drop it!) Could this have any downside for live performance, e.g. inadvertan...

Re: Allow copying of clips within sets from the browser
For gigs, a mouseless set-up can give a number of advantages - such as speed, accuracy, and convenience (e.g. the ability to do eveything from a MIDI controller, rather than continually switching from controller to mouse and keyboard and back again). It's also better for the audience, who can see th...

Exporting clips in Live 6: is the manual wrong?
According to the Live 6 manual (page 42)... To save a clip from the open Live Set to disk, simply drag it from the Session View to the File Browser and drop it into any folder. You can then type a new name for the clip or confirm the one suggested by Live with [Return]. ... In the Browser, you could...

Allow copying of clips within sets from the browser
There are a number of ways to load a sample from the file browser: Select the sample and click enter Drag the sample to the Session/Arrangement view Use copy and paste. When working in a mouseless environment, neither option 1 nor option 2 is ideal: option 1 always creates a new track; and option 2 ...

Beta testing is about ironing out the bugs of new features its not about adding new ones, the feature set will already be locked down. I can't remember which version of Live it was, but cross fader curves were introduced part way through the beta after an outcry from many DJs that Live's default cu...

i got the 'We're excited to announce Live 8!' newsletter email, but no coupon Same here. Is it because I haven't been so active on the forums lately? Or because I didn't buy Live 7? But I did buy Live 6, Live 5, Live 4, Live 3, Live XS (well, hardware that came with Live XS) and even Remix 1.5 (an ...
