choose open with and select live
and check always open with

that should fix it

i have this problem with the open g string on
the guitar it always sounds wrong to me
even after using a tuner
so i try and avoid playing it
its just that one note

hi one thing i didn't notice is normalizing i had gone through all the tracks (files) i listen to and normalize them all to the same level so on play back they are all the same loudness then i tweak as desired this i do to compare mixes i would not use this tool to master with as the final stage use...

i had my sample rate set 192 and live would average 50%

i am running 64 bit suite here
and have no problems with the m4l that came with it
everything is better than 32 bit no crashes cause
i load to many plugins

try running task manager and see what is using all your cpu

try renaming your sample folder
so live wont scan it
then break up your sample folders into smaller folders
then start live and have it scan each folder separately

i would spend more on a video card and run bitcoin

it cant be crackling it only sends midi
data you need to look at the device (vst?)
that it is triggering
