Re: Post your top 10 vst synths and effects of 2008-2009

Actual new ones, both of which I feel really take VST instruments forward to new levels: 1) Synplant 2) Alchemy Synplant completely changed the way I think of synthesis and how I interact with the software. Alchemy gave me more power than I know what to do with and managed to pull it off in a way th...

Re: WAY OT: Going to America

@ Longjohns I understand that the best thing is to have plenty of time driving up 1 - BUT.... as we only have 15 days total over there, do you think it's possible to make the drive from LA to SF in 2 days ??? (knowing we'll miss stuff on the way) or would it be smarter to leave LA a day early??? oh...

Re: Dynamics on master output channel for live performance

as noted above, I think just a limiter to cap any out of control feedback loops or resonance during the set. otherwise your clips/channels should already be mastered to what they should be

Re: WAY OT: Going to America

Depends where you go. Most good stuff is 21 and over. You're probably gonna have an easier time in NY and SF cause LA is pretty sprawled out and a nightmare for tourists. I know I live here check going.com for stuff going on around the time you're in that particular city, its a great resource. Also,...

Re: Who’s not having trouble using a laptop?

I like stuff that just works that you don't have to tweak or optimize. FTW. And I will keep shelling out money to Apple for that stability and peace of mind. A) My laptops all "just work" once I get drivers install on them too. I just like having the option of making it better for whateve...

Re: Bladerunner soundtrack

Does anyone else here get a profound urge to eat chinese food whenever they watch Blade Runner or is it just me? Ok, glad I'm not the only one! ok me too. fuck that shit is weird, somebody needs to do some research into that cause that movie exploits some kind of glitch in the human brain that make...

Re: Who’s not having trouble using a laptop?

i dunno about DPC spikes though, that's something you'd have to look into individually based upon your PC's components. This is the exact type statement that drives people to the Apple store. I don't know what the Hell that means and I don't think I want to. A) DPC spikes can and do happen on macs ...

Re: Who’s not having trouble using a laptop?

For reliability, you can't really go wrong with a Thinkpad T series. Sure its not fancy looking or anything, but it delivers performance and is pretty rugged.

Re: Mac or PC?

I use a $3000.00 MacBookPro and a refurbished HP laptop that can be picked up at PC Mall for $700. They are both 17" hi-res with the same processor. The differences. MacBookPro: Pros: Mine has FW800 with was a big reason for me to buy it. I use FW800 drives for audio and FW400 audio cards. Dec...

Re: Live 8 Launch Date?

Next to the official launch of Ableton 8, the programme features a second exclusivity in the form of a 30-minute demo session of the revolutionary Resolume Avenue 3 VJ software... one of the very few VJ tools to sync perfectly well with Ableton!
say what now? when (and how) did this happen?
