You will notice a difference: no drivers. Barely any vendor has 64bit drivers out for their hardware.

And any other consumer OS is also predominantly shipped in 32bits - see Linux or Mac OS X. Guess why? Most of the consumers have 32bit hardware with 32bit drivers and intend to run 32bit software on it.

I used to write HTML for a living after in high school and built most of my web sites in a plain text editor or Dreamweaver. Eventually I gave in and am now using iWeb for the most part. It creates bloated code and you're quite limited in your design, but why bother? I have better things to do than ...

Buy me another one and I'll find out

I think it should be possible to write the app in a way that it can distinguish multiple controllers. But I can't really work on it without having a second controller to actually do the testing.

Update 1.1

An updated version is out, v1.1. It's now using the Mac OS X SDK released by 3Dconnexion at MacWorld SF. New features are the ability to select MIDI channel, switch between relative and absolute mode and a sensitivity slider for each CC. Enjoy! http://web.mac.com/keindesign/iWeb/Site/MIDI%20Navigato...

Your ears. Really, you can learn a lot about making muic by listening to other people's music, analyzing and also trying to recreate it. Just take one of your favorite drums on a CD an try to recreate it.

A cheap and IMHO decent option is the piano that comes in Live 6's EIC collection.

From what I remember, some key points of its design as opposed to CSound or SuperCollider are that it's sample-precise and build for live programming. I met the developers at ICMC 05 and saw them perform with it, writing source code from scratch that you could see projected on the big screen at the ...

As a drummer, to my ears, cymbals NEVER record realistically, no matter how professional the studio, engineer, and equipment. I don't know whether it's overtones or some other technical reason that prevents the true sound to be recorded, but I have never heard a recording, no matter how professiona...

The intentions are good, but the method is IMHO wrong. Making it illegal to say the Holocaust hasn't happened will eradicate Nazis just as much as making Heroin illegal has eliminated drug trafficking.

Let Nazis wear their swastikas, I say! That'll make it easier for us to know who to laugh at.

Quite possible. The advantage of wax is that it doesn't contain any aggressive solvents that could potentially damage the coil wire's insulation. However, pretty much every modern day guitar pickup comes properly potted, even the cheap ones, so you rarely have to do this yourself any more (unless yo...
