Re: Recording Vocals Into Ableton
Eddiex's method is fine for if your audio files have been recorded incorrectly and need "fixing" (for example, the stuff you've already recorded that you want to keep), but the way memes_33 described is definitely best practice going forward.

Re: tips on how to do advanced wobble bass techniques?
I may or may not be joking but try using a vocoder. Either with some automated settings, or if you're feeling really fruity, literally use a mic and your mouth to go wob-wob-wob and use that as the modifier on your mega-processed bass carrier.

Re: standard FX
dry/wet reverb and delay is another commonly used effect. Try putting different effects together, like having a return channel with a really prominent phaser followed by a delay with a high feedback. Use a send knob to throw a bit of the tune into it, then turn it back down again. Probably put a low...

Re: Buying A Controller
Can't answer with too much depth on the other questions, but that huge gridded beast is a monome - it's like a home-brew, massively customisable, rather complicated midi-controller. There's a few different versions with various sized grids, and you'll find that both the APC40 and Launchpad have Mono...

Re: succesfully producing electronica without piano background??
In my experience as a guitarist/pianist, those who are not "trained musicians" tend to be a lot better at the sound design aspect (making great synth sounds), because they can approach those things without all the clutter of what an instrument "sounds" like and how it should &quo...

Re: Does anyone have Customized Equipment? I do
I'm tempted to email them and tell them to put up and axiom mk2 template. I really like the idea of covering my keyboard in streetfighter / anime characters.

Re: Does anyone have Customized Equipment? I do
Anything to do with classic/retro gaming gets my thumbs up every time. I'm just about to google styleflip, but these covers, are they permanent? (I'm thinking if you want to re-sell to a hardcore Sony fanboy or something). EDIT: Checked on the website, apparently they're removable. Damn shame that t...

Re: What is the best way to master a track for free/cheap?
For this exact situation I use one of the mastering presets on the master channel, I have a few I try till one sounds best. The mastering suite is great, also master one or two. Anyone else use these presets? When I was juuuust starting off I used those presets a lot, but the more I understand my o...

Re: What is the best way to master a track for free/cheap?
I wouldn't spend money on mastering if you're just looking for some feedback. Unless you're rich or something :) Tarekith's got a really useful guide to rough-and-ready DIY mastering - doesn't just tell you stuff to do, it tells you stuff not to do and helps you to understand why. http://tarekith.co...
