Re: New article: Lakker

Very cool, I like the visuals a lot. They compliment the performance nicely.

Re: snapper vs. audiofinder?

Snapper looks visually more appealing to me, and seems to be more on point with what I need. Upon first glance audiofinder seems to be a bit of an overkill. I'll demo both starting with Snapper due to the 100 day trial period. I'd rather not pay high prices to work around an OS bug, but the demo per...

I’m confused. Have those Volvo’s been produced in Ableton Live?

Re: snapper vs. audiofinder?

Apparently there is a bug in finder's quicklook when it comes to previewing audio. The preview will sound good the first time around, but it will be faded in from the second time onwards. I hit space bar to preview audio samples and I need to hear those first transients. I ran into this with my new ...

Routing digital > external fx > back - motu ultralite mk3

Hi all, I've been working with a TC Electronics Desktop Konnekt 6 for some years. The unit has served me well but now that I have two analog synths and a bunch of external FX, I would like to start routing my digital signals through them. I'm looking at the Motu ultralite mk3 because of its many in-...

Re: Work-life and making music.

Great to see so many lengthy replies already :) (Excuse my typo's in the following post- it's a long one and I'm writing this at work). I have been fairly successful as an academic & hold down a fairly demanding but still rewarding job - but it means that time for making music is constrained. Th...

Some more thoughts on this issue that seems to be a common hurdle for anyone involved with creativity: Quote: I love this line from John Steinbeck’s East of Eden: “And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.” Solid article: http://skinnyartist.com/the-paralysis-of-perfectionism/ Two ...

Work-life and making music.

I’m wondering what kind of jobs you guys have, and how you balance your life in a way that gives enough room for being creative. The reason I’m interested is the following (and I think many can relate): -- I’ve been producing electronic music since I was about 16. I’m approaching 28 now. Most of my ...

Re: Upgrade from Macbook Pro 2009 2.53 GHz / 8 gig?

I've ordered a Mini i7 2.6 ghz Quadcore with 8 GB RAM which will arrive in about a week - thanks again for helping me towards that decision. I have an additional question for those already using a Mini / iMac that supports Live in 64 bit: I'm now wondering if I should install live in 32 or 64 bit. ...

Re: Almost liquid Hi"hat" like Seven Ark

Thanks for your input guys. I'll set some time aside this weekend to experiment with filtering, equalizing and saturation. I guess this is one of those things that come through trial and error rather than a step-by-step guideline, as it's quite specific.

Re: Upgrade from Macbook Pro 2009 2.53 GHz / 8 gig?

Thanks but it's already shipping. I was aware of the rumors but also noticed that "it's coming within a few weeks" has been on Macrumors since October last year. So I went ahead and placed my order with the risk of purchasing a 'not-so-brand-new' machine in mind. I've checked what the expe...

Almost liquid Hi"hat" like Seven Ark

I'm wondering what the main idea behind the 4/4 hihat that comes in around 0:12 is in this beautiful track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QTETVe61MY It sounds silky, almost liquid - a quality that I've been hearing throughout electronic music a lot and it really intrigues me. Is this simply a matt...

Re: Glue Compressor Issue

I think this is not a "strange thing" but normal compressor behavior. Changing the kickdrum would be defeating the purpose in my opinion -- a different kickdrum will likely give you comparable results as this issue comes from the very nature of compression, rather than from the kickdrum. M...

i'm not trying to confuse your decision making but i thought you might appreciate hearing a little more from someone who owns one. I certainly do appreciate that - thanks very much for your insights :) It can also be helpful for others browsing the forum with similar questions. I've decided to stay...
