Noob question regarding RC testing
I am using 8.1.1 at the moment and am interested in testing the newer release candidates.
I understand that any work in 8.1.3 will not open in 8.1.1 so a backup of my projects would be sensible, but if i install a beta, will it overwrite 8.1.1 or will it install alongside it?

Re: Choosing a midi keyboard
personally i dont think you can go wrong with any of the mpk range, nice solid built controllers. My advice would be get the biggest you can live with. The mpk25 is a nice portable size but i found it to be too limiting for anything other than single sample and drum triggering. But it depends on how...

Re: Replace Live with hardware?
i started making electronic music in the 90s using a cheap second hand yamaha synth, a roland zip drive multitracker and an akai s900 sampler that i bought from a DJ who was using it for radio jingles. Looking back, i must have had infinite patience, nothing was intuitive and i spent weeks learning ...

Re: 5 midi tracks and cpu's maxing out?
Are you using built in soundcard?
Just a thought but my performance on my Toshiba laptop was appaling with ableton until i tried a dedicated soundcard.
Even when registering 10% cpu load, i got crackles and dropouts all over the place.

Re: Field Recorder Suggestions
Yes i think the main difference between the twoo is the DR 100 has XLR input, if you dont need those then the 07 is the way to go.

Re: Akai MPK 61 vs M-Audio Axiom 61
Can't speak for the Axiom, but I am more than pleased with my MPK61.
Nicely weighted keys and great build quality, its all the keyboard controller i will ever need.
I have heard people comment on the pads not being Akai's usual high standard, but they are fine for my needs.
