Re: MaxMSP thread. Here.

What Machinate means is that there's a tendency to write more general Max/MSP/Jitter related stuff in other threads that are not about Max/MSP/Jitter stuff. See for example this thread which I pollute with strange topics such as the Max/MSP/Jitter tutorials lacking pictures (which I found out later...

Isn't the 'General' category for general discussions?

So is PD and MaxMSP similar to Reaktor and SynthMaker?

ChucK vs Max/MSP vs SuperCollider vs Pure Data vs Processing

Hi all, I have recently started getting interested in programming. It seems there are a few programming languages out there for audio synthesis and manipulation and would like to try and learn one. Does anyone here have some experience with any of the above? Which of the above is the simplest to sta...

Which Internal Hard Drive to buy?

Hi all, I know, simple question but let me know what you think. I need a chunky one around 300G. I own a Dell Dimension DM051 Dual Core (bought it about 3 years ago) at 2.80GHz with 2GB of memory running Windows XP Media Center Edition. My main Hard Drive is a 80Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 and needs...

Filesize depends from quite a few parameters which are mainly the encoding bitrate of video/audio, the framesize (how big your resolution is) your aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9 wideframe) and the framerate. 100 mb for an 8 min video should produce excellent quality for h264 (assuming Ableton uses a good...

1. set a target
2. put limitations (for example total tracks: 4, use 1 vst only, no more than 1 or 2 effects maximum on each channel)
3. do not listen to any music before and during your project.

Hi, I also intend to buy monitor speakers around the same pricerange and already went to the shops and booked time to properly listen a few models. So from personal experience here is my preference so far: Dynaudio BM6, Adam A7, Genelec 8020. The BM6 are incredible (full, clean, balanced in the enti...

You shouldn't be able to spot a noticable difference even with older versions of live. Can you please discribe us: a) how you render files (specs / procedure) b) how you make the final comparisons? (as an example you shouldn't compare the rendered wav from winamp or windows media player to the mix f...

marine, Even though Live 7 supports exporting video as you say, I would never really consider it for doing so. I would instead use a different application to either edit or multiplex my audio + video once its composed and synchronised in live. "I noticed that there was no codec for divx or xvid...

Hi again,

thanks for your replies. I don't want to listen to my own productions :) I've been avoiding them for quite a while hehe... Check this link I found while browsing.

Whis is your favourite production to test monitor speakers?

Hi all, I'll be buying monitor speakers soon and I'm curious to see which are your favourite productions of all time. The ones you would use as a reference to test speakers. Mine would be Nick Cave's Murder Ballads and Fantomas - The director's cut . I'm well into electronic music as well but haven'...

I once had this issue and corrected it by changing the sampling frequency. My soundcard was not 48K compatible and I was trying to render my songs at 48K. ableton never gave an error and am not sure if this was the problem however, once I changed the settings to 44.1K it run smoothly.

good luck

Hi jetmech3421,

I run Ableton 6.0.9 on my windows media center with no issues at all. I have also run ableton lite in the past and other recording software. My audio interface is a presonus (firewire) firebox and has no issue on mc either.
