Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

I've always tried to avoid high profile jobs

Some people tried to convince me I was wasting my talent but I always though they had ulterior motives

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

So what is your employer like? Are they open to negotiating? or do you already know they won't entertain it?

Edited to add this:
But if someone asked you to work away from your friends and family for 10 years on an oil rig, in return for lots of cash
Is your current work location that bad?

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

Yeah that is definitely one option. But ten more years of working 60 hour weeks with no time for music seems like a long time at the moment! You could stick it as long as you can, save money, get the family secure, then when it all gets too much go AWOL. Or you could try negotiating a reducion in h...

IMO the best plan would be to milk your current job and aim for early retirement :)

...or go for it now and go running back to the corporate job in 5 years if it doesn't work out. Are you sure? After 5 years out the corporate world might not be so keen on you (this is not a personal comment, just an observation of the way people who do the hiring think) dsu> some sound advice IMO

Robert Henke's granulator max device

Well I just loaded Live 9 suite so I have Max for Live now.

I seem to remember that a while ago Robert Henke made a granulator max device which was pretty interesting but I can't find a download link

Please can somebody point me in right direction?

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

I work with governments in very conservative places, on projects involving their schools and young people, and I owe it to the people who are paying me to be the kind of person everyone feels comfortable with. Hey, stick with the job and insert subliminal messages in your music. You are ideally pla...

Re: Chromebooks?

Chromebooks, what a useless bit of hardware. If you can't connect to the net you are totally screwed. And for what they charge you could buy a proper machine

Play some gigs and see how it goes down with the public...

As for engineering and production, there is plenty of advice on the net (in fact on this forum) but IMO it is matter of putting in the hours to develop your skills

One bit of advice: keep a tight rein on your bags and stuff in your pockets because there are loads of petty theives and pickpockets in centeral London.

Re: Field Recorders

Mr Man> +1

I have a Yamha CX which is the model before the Yamaha C24. The battery life is great, one AA sized rechargable and I can get at least 20hrs recording.

It is really easy to use.
