you want to open it up to see where its broken. has the usb port broken the pcb board that its attached to? if not then just ask akai for the replacement part and find someone who can desolder the old and on with the new. you could do it if you bought a solder iron and a desolder sucker thingy!

I have specific problems around the 117 Hz area. To compensate, I just put an EQ on the master and dipped it about 4,5 dB, when I am mixing. But it's still a big problem when I'm recording in that room. Somebody told me it's also because I don't have much on the walls yet (book shelves, posters, et...

...think it's necessary to play tracks on my crappy home stereo and car CD player as well, just to make sure it sounds good in the worst conditions. Other peoples stereos can make you run back to remix as well. A time consuming but necessary thing. I go thru some many CDs it's pathetic. mp3 player!
