Thanks
I left my instruction manual at 'home' and now i'm at uni, so i've just been muddling through.
I got confused, I havn't got nine knobs either, just 8 and 8 sliders.

I have the PCR30, and I found the best way to use the sliders and knobs is to use the edit software to save the factory defult, and then just go through everything and assign a different CC message to each thing. Then send it to the unit. I havn't figured out how to save the new config on the unit y...

ways of combining two PC's in studio
It looks like I might be able to get a very cheap PC from a housemate who's upgrading his. AMD 1.3 ghz 256ram I have a laptop P4 2.4 512mb ram 40gig HDD firewire audiophile sound card and I use Live4, with vsti's, two external synths and a groovebox and every so often reason in rewire. I really need...

Shuttles use exactly the same components in many cases as desktop PC's do, so the only difference is the case. There are a few however that use laptop components which can be a bit slower, 5,200 rpm laptop hard disks instead of 7200rpm desktop ones, and for audio you really want 7200 rpm. I dont kno...

M audio audiophile, second firewire socket?
Hey I have an Maudio firewire audiophile soundcard for my laptop, which has a firewire socket on the back to go to the laptop, but it also has another one for another external firewire device. Does anyone have experence of using an external hard disk with this second socket? Is it stable or do you l...

I also have a vaio and it also overheats and shuts down sometimes, i'm far from impressed with it. It also has a lot of sony-specific stuff on it which makes driver upgrades for things like video cards a real pain. I'd go for a dell or something made with standard parts over vaio, they tend to mod a...

Wow, that works a treat! That really has blown me away, it makes using live with vinyl very accessable indeed. I always mix with the pitch slider and hardly ever touch the platter so its damn near exactly like mixing a record into a record! Just playing with it I went- Vinyl- live track- live track-...

Re: DJing with Ableton Live - Newbie question
I set up a knob on an EX session to control the tempo of live and sync manually to the turntables. Its easy enough once you get the hang of it. I switch from decks to live no problem. I look much more involved than when I only used Live itself. sometimes the simplest idea is the best one. I've just...

hey, welcome! There are two ways you can use ableton to DJ with- 1) you use it as a mixer with channels, so you have two audio outputs which requires a multi channel soundcard, one as a master audio output and one as a monitor output for your headphones. This way, you have as many audio tracks insid...

Yeah £79 does seem pretty steep for just attack, I was rather underwhelmed by that price. When you think its discontinued so wont be getting any updates or anything as well, definately a bit to much. Maybe thats just because I saw the bundle of waldorf stuff in turnkeys ad for 50 quid though, I dont...

Waldorf attack/ waldorf edition
Hi,
Does anyone know a good place in the UK to get either waldorf attack or the waldorf edition?
I think they've been discontinued, turnkeys had the waldorf edition for £49 but I cant find it on their website any more.

I'd love this, again i'd be most intrested in tutorials, but if you included examples in your tutorials for a few popular softsynths that'd be even better! Things i'd like to see are articles which start with a sound, maybe from a fairly well known record, and then show you how you can create that s...
