Re: Hard Disk Overload

Thank you guys - it is appreciated. Are there any fixes that wouldn't involve new hard drives? If it comes to this, I can do it, but it's going to be really expensive to buy any electronics down here, and I'm trying to avoid that. But if that's my only option... If I do need to resort to buying a n...

Re: Altering a Drum Sample vs. Finding a New One

Hey guys, so one of the things that I feel like has been really lacking in my music lately is my selection of drums I use in my songs. They never really seem to fit, and I'm not talking about a mix or an EQ issue but more the sound in general just not fitting the song or being what I'm looking for....

Re: The Bitwig evaluation thread

Now that Bitwig is out, the ball is in Ableton's court. If Ableton comes out with a nice version 10 and Bitwig can't respond back, then the Abe's will leave the Bits in the dust. That said, I think Bitwig will hit back pretty hard with V2. Why does Ableton have to come out with a nice version 10. W...

Re: Confidence

A very weird thing sometimes is the tracks I put hardly any work in sometimes be the ones that people like the most.

Basically what I am saying is that you will be surprised what many people end up liking.

Re: Plugin for Formant Shifting

Hey guys! So I'm starting to realize that there's tons of awesome tonal stuff that can be accomplished with formant shifting, however, I don't currently possess anything to do it with. I've heard Melodyne is pretty great, but it's extremely pricey, especially when all I really want is formant shift...

Re: Akai Pad Quality = Complete Garbage

I'm pretty new to Ableton/midi controllers. My first was the Arturia MiniLab. I really liked the drum pads and figured I'd get a controller with more pads that was hopefully more sensitive. So, I bought an MPD18 with aftermarket MPCStuff pads. Worst. Purchase. Ever. The pads are terribly lacking in...

Will still be using Live for the full arrangements but want to do everything sample based in Maschine.
Maschinetips.com has some great free ones but it is a paid site to look at everything.

Re: On what HD to install Ableton and others?

Hey all, I've just got myself a new 3TB WD Black hard-drive and I'm planning to use it as a dedicated disk for all things related to music. So the plan is to install all library's, VST's etc. on that disk. But what about Ableton and other software like Native Instruments Komplete. Should I install ...

Re: How do I add vocal samples to ableton live 9 as "one shot"

Can anyone please tell me how to add vocal samples to a file as a "one shot" where master tempo does not apply to the specific sample and also does not effect other tracks. All my attempts have been futile  Plenty of ways. The two easiest ways I would do it. 1. Turn off Warping and l...

Re: Will Ableton announce anything on March 26th

Do you think ableton will announce anything on Bitwigs big launch day to crash the party? It would be a perfectly legitimate marketing tactic to roadmap or announce new features or free stuff. I doubt it but you never know. That said Ableton is most likely cooking up a new version which answers som...

Instrument identification/isolation and polyphonic note separation are both super easy and there are tons of ways to do them perfectly. Pretty much everyone understands the basic digital signal processing techniques required to do such simple tasks. Just throw on some filters and do some Fourier an...
