Re: Virtual Reality - the next compute platform?!

Where the others seem to be mostly marketing, they don't even appear to be aiming for selling the device at all. And what's with the Vista and XP compatibility? Is this current?! A lot of this is still in development. Keep in mind that Oculus Rift is still in dev mode so it will be awhile before th...

Re: Virtual Reality - the next compute platform?!

I think it’s going to be pretty damn silly if it’s just another means of doing what we can already do now. People don’t even like moving a virtual fader on a glass surface. They certainly aren’t going to like moving a virtual fader by not touching anything at all. To be fair, that's because moving ...

Re: Virtual Reality - the next compute platform?!

What kind of controllers are they?! The glove type or more like game pads?! Could you tell us more? Here are some of the 3D controllers that I was talking about: http://www.stuff.tv/wing-gorgeous-next-generation-computer-mouse/news (my current favorite) https://www.thalmic.com/en/myo/ http://contro...

Re: Virtual Reality - the next compute platform?!

Ive been thinking about this a lot lately. I plan on picking up an Occulus Rift dev kit soon and have contacted a few 3D controller companies regarding testing their devices in the audio production realm as well. I could see some real cool possibilities for 3D/VR production, collaboration, and onlin...

Re: One of the Greatest Rants EVER!!!!!

i don't disagree, but i think people underestimate the difficulty in writing a "hit" pop song. It sounds really hard to me to be honest. First, you actually have to want to write a hit pop song. Then, you have to stomach the process all the way through to pop song completion. Then, you ha...

Re: I was gong to complain about iTunes/iPhone ...

Are you doing elaborate things within Live that makes it your preference for DJing? Nothing too crazy...lots of clipped out track edits, a few live elements here and there, and I like to use NI The Finger as an effects station as well as some other APC orientated Max for Live stuff. Overall I like ...

Re: I was gong to complain about iTunes/iPhone ...

I use a extremely large master set for Ableton Live DJing so I do not worry about tagging in that respect. I do however add tags to my tracks and split them up into sub-directories for CDJ style DJing (during a B2B set or when im not interested in prepping Ableton and just want to play a bunch of tr...

Re: I was gong to complain about iTunes/iPhone ...

Advantages: Android allows you to store your music in normal folders vs having to manage an external software driven library. You can use files out of the narrow range of what is supported by iTunes (great for that occasional FLAC). You can add/delete music on the fly without having to use external ...

Re: I was gong to complain about iTunes/iPhone ...

iTunes isolates its users to specific file formats, requires you to manage a library that is wholly unnecessary, and doesn't work for anyone who has a really large library or goes through lots of music and/or needs extra control over their music in any way. Personally, I listen to a lot of music and...

Re: I was gong to complain about iTunes/iPhone ...

For me, ditching iTunes was one of the best reasons for moving to Android. How people happily put up with that garbage is beyond me.

Re: Damn kids listening to ….electronic music

I'm always finding really great fresh new music but it seems like a lot of my friends (mostly in their 30's) are constantly out of the loop. Why? They gravitate too much to what they liked in the past and beyond that they only tend to be exposed to commercial sounding dance music (which sucks) so th...

Re: No drag and drop for songs. Corrupt?

Try clearing your cache or increasing the size, that sometimes causes a false 'file is corrupt' error.

I think there are one or two other causes but cant think of them off hand.

Re: Why is there in 2014 still no easy solution for lowlatency?

RME is like night and day imo, I've owned probably 6 other interfaces from different brands and after getting a Babyface recently I'm a believer. Multi-client? No problem.

Re: Too Much Current Through a Powered USB Hub?

Im not sure if this is the same problem, but if you are on PC you may want to try to use the Korg MIDI Driver removal thingy to remove unused devices. What happens is that by unplugging and replugging devices into different USB ports you reach some sort of maximum for supported MIDI devices in Windo...
