i always start from scratch and to be honest, never thought about using a template for producing. Saves you time i guess, but i am never pressed for time when making music, so it is something that doesn't worry me much.

cool to see what others are up to though

reaktor is awesome for experimental stuff, lots of processing with ableton effects, and racks, completes the arsenal for me.

i try to mix up tweaked presets with sound design, sometimes it's just too time consuming to design every single thing.... i mean how much time do you have?

...don't see a problem if you can find a balance, however, for me the more i learn how to use the tools, the less presets i use.

i really think they should take their time and release version 9 when it's really ready...

to be fair i use it more to mess about everything else but beats....

it really pays off to fiddle about a bit... i have to agree with russ, i don't use much the random.

also, remember that you can copy grooves from tracks that you love and use it on your own clips, that works wonders
