No way, Glasgow is a fantastic city with tons of stuff going on. Sometimes you need to be away from a place for a while to really appreciate it, plus the music scene is spot-on. The weather is not the greatest though :-( but I know plenty of people who have gone there for a year or two and loved it ...

The best way is to get one book on a language (the "in a nutshell" books are great - don't ever get a "dummy's guide" for programming languages) .. and then just dig into source code available on the net and play with it, modify it; get used to it. You only get good at programmin...

Yeah go with the web languages these days, .NET, C#, Ajax and the like. There's a lot of potential there these days and you don't need to worry about the low-level stuff so much.

Re: How many programming languages do you speak?

Just curious - and how long did or does it take you to pick a new one up? also what is the hot language right now? Open source stuff? Java? etc etc thanks a! Yeah the first "real" one (i.e. not visual basic) usually takes the most effort. After you've got your head around the concepts (ma...

Sorry Lapax, I don't want to hi-jack the thread but as an aside; I have a UK power-supply version of the JP-8000 I'd be happy to ship to the UK for those who expressed an interest. Unforuntately mine just isn't getting as much as it should, even though it's a really nice sounding synth, and in good ...

Yeah I won't agree with the fact that the town is a bit dull -- but like you say it depends on your perspective. Coming from the UK six and a half years ago to Boston was like someone turning the lights off on my nightlife prospects.. don't get me wrong there are plenty of things to do. Just that th...

Agreed - Faneuil Hall during the day is fun, at night it's a pain in the ass..

Re: OT: Boston

Hey, My lady and I are going to Boston this weekend. Anything especially awesome going down? Any restaurants that I should check out? We're staying in the theatre district. Any nearby places, bars or breakfast joints I should know about? Any coffee shops with internet? I like leaving my laptop behi...

I'd vote for Watergate because I had so much fun there, even on a Wednesday (all) night.

I'm not sure if it's pumping the way you want it, but Sonalksis released a new plug in today -- TBK3 Über Compressor. Couldn't try it myself yet, but people seem to like it a lot already. http://www.sonalksis.com/index.php?section_id=104 Oh Jesus fuckin Christ I can see me being down $260 by the ti...

The elemental audio plugin, Newodynium is fantastic for pumping, more so than any other plugin I've tried. It's bundled under Rodger Nichols garbage now and is probably three times the price it used to be, but I recommend it.

I'd recommend Shawn Hatfield at audible oddities. Did a great job on some deep tech-house tracks of mine a while back.
