Re: EQ8: Serious issues with Bass. Here is the proof.
Most DC blockig filters in analog gear are around 2-10 hz. As a final mastering / cleanup stage having a DC blocking filter of around 15-20 hz is good, 30hz is too high and you start cutting your bass and I'm talking with the guys at Ableton on fixing this. I think this limitation was due to them pr...

Re: Fully Mono compatible Mid/Side techniques?
The easiest way to handle bass mono compatibility is to make the bass mono at the source. If you are panning a synth or sampled bass yourself then don't. If you are adding stereo widening effects then make sure they only operate on the upper frequencies, there are usually high pass filters on modula...

Re: Pioneer DJM style one knob filter with Cytomic The Drop
trying to figure out how to use Cytomic the Drop to build a One-Knob DJM style filter... These are the controls available to me in Ableton: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3j3ycks1g32qf1o/Screenshot%202015-05-18%2021.50.09.png?dl=0 I imagine there's a way to do it, but none of my tinkering in the Macros ...

Re: Cytomic makes EQ8 filters, what about Auto Filter?
Soundin great Andy, awesome work on the update. In the distant future a volume knob nested in auto filter would be great bc the drive adds a lot of gain, but I will use a custom rack with a Utility after it macro'ed up inversely with Drive for now :) I'm all for a post filter gain knob, I've got on...

Re: Anyone uses ilok successfully with Live?
A really good has it all totally clean EQ with no saturation is DMG Audio Equilibrium. It requires no dongle. The maker of it Dave Gamble used to work for Focusrite. Thanks for that tip. I'll check it out. The EQ Eight in Live 9 was co developed by Cytomic so it's hard to beat. EQ8 is actually pret...

Re: Live 9.5
An additional filter question, but one which is probably outside the area in which you can comment. Was there any talk of providing the HD versions of the MS2, SMP, OS2 and PRD in a render-time mode? Obviously the primary intention with Live is real-time low CPU resource conservation, but has there...

Re: Cytomic makes EQ8 filters, what about Auto Filter?
You've obviously got a crystal ball! Auto Filter now has a bunch of non-linear analog modelled synth filters from Cytomic in it, and also a "Clean" mode which is the same linear SVF used in EQ8.TomViolenz wrote:yes

Re: Choose differnt filter circuit types in EQ Eight
This is a great idea and one I hope will be popular as I am already working flat out to bring it to reality in plugin form. Angstrom has summed it up pretty well, synth filters are quite different to EQ filters so require a bunch of different modelling. It can be fun to use synth filters like an EQ,...

Re: Live 9.5
Hey Andy, thanks for adding your knowledge to Live. You're welcome! A small question ... Was there any particular reason Ableton didn't ask for the Roland filters? The MS1, JPR and SHR are the most expensive filters in terms of CPU, and if you look at the current version of The Drop you will notice...

Re: Live 9.5
Got it a bit wrong so updated my post the new filter algos are not as good as the HD ones in The Drop but they are great and better than The Drops standard algos. There are two types of filters in The Drop, the MD and HD versions. The MD uses a low fixed amount of CPU, the HD use a higher and varia...

Re: Live 9.5
I'm presuming the new filters are the same ones from Cytomic's The Drop. If so you guys are spoiled they are reguarded by many on many forums as the best analog modeled filters ever. They were modeled on the most famous synthesizer filters. I'm hoping Andy fills us in with some details. I also want...

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
At 3840 x 2160 on windows 8.1 It doesn't scale correctly on high DPI Is there a reason Ableton decided to exclude windows? I understand that retina displays are becoming the norm on mac but I shouldn't have to install OSX Yosemite just to get the added benefit for my 4k display. On Mac each window ...

Re: Cytomic The Drop Is Out
Cytomic only had the finished version ready for the ones that bought it. Today Andy released another version with offline activation option and a demo with no time limit. You should be able to demo the new version now even if you already demoed the old version. https://cytomic.com/drop The new vers...

Re: Cytomic The Drop Is Out
Just to add a little info that hasn't already been covered. The current version of The Drop (v1.0.4) is only available to existing customers, it has a brand new copy protection system that I want to roll out gently, so far there haven't been any issues but I prefer to take things slow. I'll add time...
