Re: compensate for audio delay in midi editor

Nope. It’s a by product of the Bluetooth connection. Ableton has now way to compensate for that unfortunately. The only solution is to run wired headphones.

Strange MIDI behaviour

I’ve been using a DDJ-RR as my audio interface on Mac for quite a while with no issues. Having built and set up a new Windows machine I’ve now found a strange quirk. If the DDJ-RR is set up as an ASIO interface I can’t play any MIDI instruments. Live 10 and 11 both show MIDI activity but after a sin...

Re: Best mixer Control Surface for Live?

It really depends how much money you want to spend and what functionality. The Icon Qcon Pro G2 and Pro X are both well made with full Mackie control. Specific templates Ableton as well.

They also do a more compact Platform series of modular controllers.

Re: AKAI S 2000 + Ableton

Can you play audio out of Live when your interface is connected to your monitors? It’s years since I’ve used a 2000 but I assume you seeing no input on the 2000 input monitor. I’m also assuming you’re aware that it’s not a throughput machine in the sense that you can’t just use it as a send/return f...

Re: PRE Fader metering on channels

The only time I can see it being vital is building processing chains and least you get a little meter at every link of your chain. It’d be a nice addition as an option though.

I’d be more interested in pre-post fade sends on a channel by channel basis rather than global.

Re: Live Set - Machine Spec

Increased buffers can actually be a diminished return as you’re computer is having to generate and store greater buffers before it can make sound. I tend to find that there’s a sweet spot below 2048. Unfortunately RAM is not really of benefit for software synths as they’re being processed by the CPU...

Re: Live 11 Sudden CPU Spikes

Have you disabled USB power management? This stops the computer from dropping power to devices and disconnecting them accidentally.

Re: Cant sing to metronome cause it throws me out of the feelz

If it’s an acoustic guitar there’s a technique using fig 8 mics to try and minimise the bleed between vocal and guitar. It’s not perfect but helps a lot for people in your position.

Re: What to do if a singer changes tempo throughout song?

There’s been a few posts relating to this. It’s a difficult thing to deal with if the changes aren’t consistent each time you perform. If you need to overdub and want to produce in a program like Live you’re either going to have to programme tempo change automation or work out a way of getting Live ...

Re: Cant sing to metronome cause it throws me out of the feelz

Playing to a metronome is a skill. There’s a reason there’s the cliche of the strict piano teacher making their student play to a metronome. As yur2die4 says, a drum loop can often help to maintain feel. I’ve recorded a lot of musicians, many of them students and it can take a while to work out a go...

Re: Live 11 Sudden CPU Spikes

I’ve read a few things where people have had issues with hi-res displays despite having sufficient GPU to cover the load.

That sort of matches with you saying turning off hi-dpi stops it. I’d suggest a support request :)

Re: Live 11 offers less than 50% of Live 10

Supports advice was to uninstall all versions of Live. Go to Username/Library/Application Support and delete the Ableton folder. Reinstall Live and test. While not identical, CPU usage appears to be much more similar than before. I got 80 tracks running in the test project and while both the disk an...

Re: Live 11 offers less than 50% of Live 10

Good idea! Regrettably, I can't run the benchmark because I get a "not found error" when I try to access the help view / lessons. These lessons worked in L10 flawlessly but now it's broken. Reinstalling L11 didn't help either. I'm afraid I'll have to wait for an update. That's the price f...

Support have responded with some things to test which I will do when I get home this evening.

I’ll update after I try them as to success or not.

Re: Live 11 offers less than 50% of Live 10

I think it’s important to note the difference between what the CPU says and what you can actually achieve. One of the issues is potentially a difference in reporting rather than performance. The real test is how many tracks of varying types you can run on 10 and 11 before audio drop out occurs. This...
