Re: Worth running Live Sets from external hard drives...
with a big enough ssd for your data and all, you don't need external storage anymore. ssd's are fast enough (espencially their low latency for random accesses help tremendously) to not have to care about the hdd bottlenecks anymore. just realize that an intel gen2 ssd (i have the gen1 myself) has a ...

Re: Dual Monitor Support
I think it'd be incredible to be able to see my tracks on the main screen, and set up a monitor for my drummer for his tracks and some visual feedback, whatever it may be, metronome blink, track volumes, etc.. i hate to use this be-all end-all post, but for this thing, max4live could help (and i wi...

Re: Anyone NOT a DJ Here?
During the last years, I started with DJing. Quickly after Vinyl only, I experienced Traktor, then Keylocked mixing, then Harmonic mixing, then Midi control, and now I'm on the edge of using Ableton for mixing. But that's just one part. I played the Guitar for 12 years, partially in a band, too. Now...

I'd like to contribute but have to get home first to send it to you. If you like my track, you can get a 128kbits version on my homepage http://davepermen.net (or you could buy the highquality version for at least a buck).
if i don't forget it, i'll upload it later today, if you like it.

Re: New authorization method
I'd like the renoise solution as well. I like to have my software installed on tons of pc's at the same time, as I can't manage to work on one machine all the time (laptop, pc at the club, pc at the studio, etc.. it's everywhere my user, my ableton, my visual studio, etc). thanks to a nice networked...

Re: Polanski arrested in Switzerland on US warrant!!
and i love how much the rest is mostly about lies that come from jealous outsiders. but we in swiss like to hold that status of being the big money bank of everything :) not that it's actually true, as we work against such crime quite hard, but it's still, we're those in james bond holding the money...

Re: What's the difference b-tween step seq / Live's piano roll?
i guess it's a bit a thing about old-school / new-school, too. people that grew up with pc's mainly, and softwares for everything, they don't "get" step sequencers for the most part. people that grew up with hw devices, physical sequencers and such, they love them. it's a familiar thing fo...

Re: Aaargh -- Live 8.0.5 update takes for f*cking ever!
might be your laptop is terribly fragmented since those 4 years, and as it (why ever) tries to update the whole dataset, it has maybe huge troubles in doing so.. the update looks like it is very disk related, at least, my ssd made the update much quicker than any hdd based updates... so i'd suggest ...

Re: Worth running Live Sets from external hard drives...
a 4GB+ set is not huge. my work is currently reaching an 80GB+ set... and the amount of diskspace doesn't change at all the behavior of live, as it just means it has to read from a bit different places. if it's choking, an external disk won't help, as they're only slower mostly anyways. if it's the ...

Re: THE Rack List. (What can YOU do with Racks in Live 6?)
well, I guess I should add my rack to here: a 3x equalizer for dj's with 0db at the midpoint, -36db -> 6db full range, all only with ableton racks. i used the sweeper rack to have non-coloring filters, and such. it's in this thread (with more detail): http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t...

In Search of the perfect DJ Equalizer (EQ 3 Style)
After seeing and testing different EQ 3 style Equalizers, I thought more about an Idea I had once. There is the possibility, with the Utilities Phase-Inversions, to build filtered effects that have no colorization. Utility for this is in the Effect Rack Thread, called SweepableCrossover. Based on th...

Re: New authorization method
problem is, for itunes, that works well, as it's an online store. but ableton sees much use without being online ever. so image now, that i activate a pc for a studio, which never gets online again. then, i revert that activation online (or in the worst case, do it on that studio pc, and restore the...
