Re: Live hardware monitoring using Motu Ultralike mk3
Set all the ins you need from the turntables/etc in the cuemix software "inputs" tab to optimum levels. Set up all your tracks in Ableton to the same ins and record enable them. Make sure they are muted though so they don't output from the monitors, but will record. Go to the "mixes&q...

Re: Buying Core i7 macbook.
may i ask what your issues with hackintosh might be? why u find that running osx native is better? It took ages to get going properly. It's easier to do these days probably though. If I try to go to Snow leopard I get Kernel Panics on install, and then it resets all my BIOS settings. I've followed ...

Re: 8.1.4 - king of stability?
I really wish people would at the least keep a text document of their system specs, and loaded VST/AU's that they could paste into their comments in update threads! Most of the time you don't even know what OS someone is running when they post, "It's crashing more for me!" etc. :? This wa...

Re: Buying Core i7 macbook.
ADK have a SIX core i7 980X laptop running at 2.8 through to a (very expensive) 3.33 Ghz option and 12 meg cache, it also has a texas instruments firewire chipset. http://www.adkproaudio.com/laptop2.cfm They cheated and used a desktop processor! My argument still holds true for mobile processors, b...

Re: Buying Core i7 macbook.
Most of the quad core PC laptops are only about 1.6GHz a core, so if the program's not threaded very well it probably won't make much difference, or could perform worse. Saw one advertised earlier today; said it's 2.8Ghz quad-core, but when I read the specs that was turbo boost on a single core, and...

Re: 8.1.4 - king of stability?
8.1.3 and 8.1.4 are both stable on my system. Used to have lots of random crashes for no apparent reason on one version, but I don't know which, and they all disappeared with the last few I installed.

I assume the i7 macbook pro's either so crap that no-one's got one, or so great that all the owners are busy creating masterpieces instead of being on the forum...

Re: Notation in Live 9?
I'm a score reader, but I'd rather Ableton implemented things that made live make better or more interesting/exciting/varied music first, or allows me to trigger things, or pull off things live, like be able to intelligently follow tempo from a live drummer with MIDI trigger on his bass drum. For me...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?
It's slightly OT, but have you guys who play band stuff with ableton running backing tracks got any tunes I can listen to? The "hear my stuff" section on the forum seems to be mostly DJs and one or 2 man electronic only outfits. There's some cool stuff there but would be good to check out ...

Re: CPU issue
Live's probably ready and primed to explode into an instant wall of sound! I only worry about how high my meter goes at worst case, not how low it goes when stopped. It never goes to zero in my sets except very simple ones.

Re: Back it Up Foo!
If your live library is easily re-installable from disks then just back up the projects. If not, back up the library too?
Or do a "collect all and save" in each project, then back up the projects.
Many ways to skin a cat as they say...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?
I mainly play live with real drummers and percussionists. The drummer is very solid and plays a midi kick drum. Can we get the kick to automatically set the tempo in Live so we can throw loops into the mix knowing they will be in time with the band. Ideally it would be great to have a system where ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?
If your drummer can't follow a click track, then he shouldn't play in a band, same for guitarists or anyone else. I play in a band with some backing tracks using Live and Guitar Rig and we just follow the tempo of the song, sometimes we loop a part and then improvise until we're tired of having fun....

Should just be able to update via the Apple Software Update app automatically.
