The "matched memory" thing is only a serious issue with graphics performance when you have an integrated GPU (mac minis and macbooks). Running two RAM sticks of the same allows the RAM controller to run in dual channel mode, which gives you more bandwidth. This is very important when you h...

If you have plugs that are not UB yet, then you'll have to run XP on bootcamp I guess. Assuming you have windows versions of all your plugs, that is.

Do you mean Universal Binary?

Live 6 IS a Universal Binary. So is 5.2.

Why would you want to use XP?

What "UB problems" are you talking about?

Apart from the logic board issues - the G3s are actually made of better quality, sturdier plastic then the later iBooks. I have a G4, and my GF has a G3. Hers is 5 years old, mine is 1. In structural terms, hers is in better condition. I am REALLY careful with my gear, too. The older iBooks are bett...

Man, what a shit-stirring waste of time. I'm not quite sure if The Last One is taking the piss or not - it's a problem with conservatives, sometimes you can't tell. Are you a person with a brain pretending to be a stupid American (as some sort of social experiment), or are you just a dumbass? I have...

Having a pimped out GPU (which it sounds like you have) will have virtually nil effect on Live performance.

So the conclusion is..... don't question anything and take our current intellectual property laws for granted? Well you can think like that, but I'll think with my brain switched on, and not consider things in terms of black and white simplifications. I'm not condoning cracked copies of Ableton. I a...

Ok, well it seems as though every individual person here is unwilling to give up enough ground to make a proper conversation happen. I'm out for good.

I hope you guys sort something out.

Just in case anyone is wondering what knotkranky actually said: No worries lm. You are fortunate to be happy with the way things are. But some of use need it better and that would be no foul to you. "Some of us need it better." That's pretty clearly stating that there IS a problem, at leas...

So is the conclusion of this thread that we should petition Ableton to tighten up the "loose" midi timing? :P "WE WANT 10ns MIDI ACCURACY! WE WANT 10ns MIDI ACCURACY!" (with knotkranky leading the charge :)) I seem to remember kk saying something along the lines of "improvin...

Which means.... knotkranky: do a test. Please? Pretty please? At the moment you look a little bit like Joseph Smith Jr . :) You're obviously spending a lot of time on this forum, if you could spend half as much time doing a test instead then you would be doing everyone a favour. That SOS article is ...

Agreed, though broke doesn't come into the equation for me, just tighter under more circumstances. I use it just fine for what I do, but to not wish for tighter midi timing is like not wishing for more powerful computers. I'm cutting a fine hair here but it's relevant to many who want it. Certainly...

What's the keyboard action on the SL like? I will have to go and try one out in person, but I'm interested to hear your opinions. I really want to invest in something that has a solid feel to it, especially if I'm spending that much on a controller.
