i've been having the same problem with my setup at home. but i just tried using the live demo at work and i'm able to overdub automation (with the mouse) without it erasing the previous parameters. so i wonder if it has something to do with the midi setup? i know that live will erase any automation ...

Way too much scrolling needed in Live now that everything is crammed in the bottom. are you aware of the right-click track view selector to jump to any device in the chain? a handy shortcut, though i always forget to use it. in a future version it would be nice to be able to tear off the entire tra...

try deactivating the lock envelopes button on the top right of the arrange window, next to the set locators buttons.

though as far as i understand live's slicing isn't based on dynamics, it's based on a grid such as 16ths or warp markers (which need to be defined manually i thought?)

I was just thinking about this last night. You have a whole screen of real estate, yet the ableton synths cannot occupy more than a small section at the bottom. I think it speaks to Live being more of a performance tool, where things you tweak are mapped to hardware controllers anyway, than sound d...

Will the demo let you save resamples? Not sure. yes you can route your tracks into an audio track and record the mixdown into that track and then find the wav/aiff on your hard drive. that's saved my skin in a few video editing situations where i needed to adjust the tempo of a piece of music but d...

this appeared yesterday on the novation yahoo group. i don't think it's the same update that we've been discussing here but it may be of interest: ReMOTE SL Template Editor build 8187 Released on 12-04-07 11:02 Template Editor update for ReMOTE SL and ReMOTE ZeRO SL including the following changes/f...

also worth looking around second hand, since monitors don't particularly degrade with age and speaker technology hasn't exactly made any major advances in the last couple of decades. i picked up a pair of harbeth xpressions and a mass technology amp for 300 UKP from a studio that was going out of bu...

If only ableton provided more than eight macro knobs (like maybe 4 tabs of 8 = 32 knobs), it would make automap perfect, and completely and easily assignable. +1 that as well as access to more than 128 params would indeed be perfect. i've recently been looking at logic's controller implementation a...

writing a whole "song" often gets lost ... so true. especially when you have live's clunky arrange window to deal with. getting some beats and ideas together is only 10% of the work in creating a song. the real work goes into arranging a song structure and fitting everything togeth...

i'm not sure what your quantizing issue is but if it's fixed in live 7 then it does sound like a bug. otherwise i wonder if you have a problem with latency. also i read about a bug where live can change your record quantize setting to straight 16ths without warning. so if you were expecting to recor...
