Re: macOS High Sierra compatibility (release)

Well - live 64 bit (just realised I had 9.7.2 still on my mac) did actually start up - eventually after rescanning all the plugins and some brief playing with it hasnt caused it to crash yet. The upgrade was quite quick and thus far painless. I can afford to take the risk as Im using my PC more thes...

Re: Is there a better way to map an external drum VST?

I end up filling the drum rack full of external instruments to route midi in and audio out of the multi-channel drum plugin. Once you have done this for each of your drum plugins and saved the resulting racks, then you can drop multiple different drum plugins into another other layer of drum rack to...

Re: live10, native lfo, ios vs android, ableton vs bitwig

What got me started with Live and what keep me using it are probably two different things. The starting point was that it was non-linear back in the days when everything else was linear (ie they had no session view, just track editors). Many years down the road I know Live so well that I just dont h...

Re: Where can I download Live 8?

I suspect your MBP is newer than my old early 2011 i7 MBP - L9.7 64 bit starts up in a few seconds for me and not much different to start up time on my 4Ghz skylake PC (with high sped ram and M2SSD etc) - full ableton suite, komplete ultimate and loads of other pluging etc running off a 1TB SSD. Do ...

Re: splitting channels in LEFT - MID - RiGHT possible?

Probably the best hack you could easily do in Live is with two utility plugins: One set to 0% width - that feed the center speaker (strictly this would be a mid signal - not an N channel center signal). The other inline with your stereo out set to say 150%+ which will pull down the mid in the stereo...

Re: Need to open sets faster at gigs. Use a 2nd computer?

If your computer has enough grunt, perhaps just run another audio app on it that can play an audio clip and launch it in sync - one that can slave to midi. Feed it a midi-network clock using OSX virtual midi routing. Maybe there is such an app that supports link protocol (dont know if that supports ...

Re: this technical issue might make me ditch Live

Loads of us here have been using live for many years (12 or so in my case) and gone through many installs and upgrades on both windows and OSX. I cannot ever recall an issue with the install or upgrade of Live. At a guess - you have been messing with windows, or you you have one of these pc tidy typ...

Re: Is Komplete important?

I have komplete ultimate 11 and with each iteration I find its covers more and more of my sound and processing needs. You cant go wrong with it really. The only warning - if you get komplete and find yourself tempted to buy another NI instrument or two - seriously consider just upgrading to ultimate...

Re: Seeking CPU Advice

Similar to jestermgee for me as well. I start with a good motherboard for the CPU type - for me thats latest i7 and not quite the fastest, Asus or Gigabyte mobo generally, these days with M2 SSD slot and can run the current fastest RAM type. As I dont have to dedicate a PC to audio (as I have a mac ...

Re: information drum machine with software dedicated in daw able

Ive been through quite a few drum machines over the years from standalone hardware drum machines from roland (my first was a TR606 back when they were new), elektron to akai mpc to dedicated controller hardware (Machine v1). I even had a TDK roland drum kit for a while and one of their hand percussi...

Re: what is an affordable audio interface with lowest latency?

What someone said above - new laptop + firewire adapter. Even just upgrading your current laptop to a second hand 2011 or later MBP model would be a huge improvement. There was a huge increase in audio calculation performance in the 2nd gen i7 CPUs that came out with the early 2011 MBPs - for compar...

Re: Very inefficient user interface

What ^^^ said for zoom - it actually works ok on my 2560x1440 monitor, however even with my shitty half man-made eyes I prefer to work on un-zoomed just for the extra space and being able to see all of a large session. I can live with some things not being easy to see - the knobs and buttons however...

Just a thought - have a look in Live preferences Midi tab and for the midi out to your virus - make sure Remote is off.
