Re: maxforlive.com
It's the device name specified in the form. I'm trying to name a device, "External Instrument MIDI Control" but when I do so I get the error, 'Invalid Device Name. Device Names can only contain numbers and letters'.

Re: maxforlive.com
Having difficulty with the device name when trying to upload. Are spaces not allowed in device names? And is there a maximum length?
Also, is there a way for us to upload a screenshot?

Re: maxforlive.com
Can there be another category for lighting control devices? I'm working on a lot of these at the moment and I'm sure other people will be.

Re: send~/receive~ across devices
+1, the lack of this feature is crippling.

BUT regarding Live8's looper: You won't be able to use the multifunction-button with keyboard-press-messages, as you can't hold them for two seconds, or can you? Well I haven't tested mine with looper yet but you can hold a stomp switch down just like you can hold a keyboard button down. The box us...

If you want a footpedal to control Ableton, you can make one yourself for (reasonably) cheap. And it'll be as sturdy as you need it to be. http://www.cycling74.com/story/2007/10/16/1252/3782 It's essentially a USB keyboard hacked with sturdy footswitches instead of keyboard keys, in a tough metal bo...

Yeah unless you have a really powerful computer it helps to have two. My band have sync'd visuals for our live sets. The entire thing is programmed in Ableton with a MIDI track rewired to the VJ program. Currently we're using Arkaos VJ. We do it on the same laptop at the moment as it's mostly just p...

Well personally I think it would be awesome. But that's just me. I like the ableton workflow and I think it could be applied to video very well to make a really great app. Doesn't anyone else think that this would be a good thing to exist? Regardless of whether it is at all likely to ever exist. An ...

I've watched the max for live video again, and I see about the API thing. I must have missed that last time I watched it. Apologies. If you think you can do what I'm suggesting then fine, it could be possible, although I would still prefer a dedicated version rather than a max system for video. Tone...

Max for Live might let you use bits of jitter, but it couldn't provide a complete video solution like if the whole of live were built for video. You wouldn't be able to play video from clips in session view, you wouldn't be able to mix video using the Live mixer system. You wouldn't be able to pass...

I'd love to see a live-like app designed for video processing. Something with exactly the same workflow and user interface but with everything designed for video rather than audio. So you could add video clips in session view, or use live video input, have everything sync'd to a master tempo, apply ...
