24 bits is all very well but for those of us with slower computers, what's the performance hit? for example with 16 bits, one MMX instruction (the way multimedia maths gets done on an intel chip) will handle 4 samples of audio. with 24 bits, i'm guessing it will only handle 2 samples per instruction...
