Re: iPad
I currently have a 5s. I like trying to hold out as long as I can get away with for an upgrade. Me too. The battery weakened to the point of losing juice in half a day. After fighting this for a while with a $8 USB battery pack I bought at Ross, I took the phone to Verizon for a new battery. They p...

Re: Advice please - vocal production
The idea of a car is a good one but that may have it sound a little flat An exciter, etc. thrown on top and any flatness is solved. The car singing was more of a psychological step for me. Three sessions with closed windows, sweating like a horse in a sauna, and now I don't give a frigg about neigh...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
sometimes get a flood of cpu for no reason. The project will be running steady around 50% then go crazy 100%+ until I stop. The first thing I do when it happens, I look what time it is. If it's a round hour, it's one of those @#$$%^^&@#%@#%! programs connecting to the Net to check for updates o...

Re: Advice please - vocal production
If you have a laptop and a good USB mike, you might have a first class insulated vocal booth already without realizing. It's called a car. I'm just checking the vocal takes I recorded in my car today, crooning/yelling my a** off with the windows up. It was a vocal performance I wouldn't feel comfort...

The Verge: How many Apple engineers does it take to fix iTunes?
Just thought of this article when I tried to throw a single Live mix MP3 over to my iPhone via iTunes. And gave up after 15 minutes, emailed it to it instead.

Re: Floppy ball kick sound?
Take various types of ball to the gym, record each of them, put the results into a collection for sale and call it "a load of old balls" :-) I see we are getting productive here. "Big Balls Audio" doesn't even sound like a bad company name. I checked out Big Kick, the onbo...

Re: Floppy ball kick sound?
....or just go to a gym (nearby school/college?) and slam a ball on the floor. :-) Gyms are one thing, but finding the kind of floppy, almost volleyball-like basketball that used to produce the ideal floor-hugging "tsspp" is a whole other bowl of wax. I haven't seen one of those balls in ...

Re: Floppy ball kick sound?
Thank you, 102455. Though I checked several online SFX vendors, I haven't heard of SoundSnap until now. Their sound at Node 54721 is so far the closest sound. (If it were only close miked with a delayed reverb start... )

Re: Simple General MIDI plugin for Ableton
The point of having a General MIDI plugin like Bandstand (if it only worked in Live) is that unlike the pedestrian method of manual timbre assignments, one can route 16 tracks of a .mid file into a single Live track with Bandstand on, and all sequence tracks snap to the right General MIDI sound, the...

Floppy ball kick sound?
The kick sound I like the most ever: plopping a big, soft ball to the wood floor of a reverberating gym. It creates a prominent "tspp" almost like a string slap, with a slow bop that sounds pitch bent down & back, then a huge reverb tail. Did anyone come across such a sound in any drum...

No worries, it won't happen. An "expert" is just someone who gets paid more for making bigger mistakes than we do.H20nly wrote:we can't have a society of people that actually know what they're doing. it would be pure anarchy!

Re: iPad
I'd venture a guess that not having to relearn the OS would create super-high levels of user retention (=profit). Maybe it's just my anti-cynicism medication wearing off.H20nly wrote:cool idea but it undermines the very core of phase 3. (Profit)

Re: iPad
They can't update it too soon is my guess, it's still not widely accepted and the initial ones were stupid. fixed :) A totally cool and unstupid Apple thing would be an OS that runs on any bit-depth processors because at boot it determines what bit depth and GHz the processor, the peripherals, apps...

Re: iPad
Ordered up. I’m too poor to bookmark my midlife crisis with a sports car but not too poor to do it with a new iPad. :) :x I just thought of the new blender-shaped Mac Pro in a pang of quarterlife rumination. Still unsure if it's an Apple Store in-joke or a real production unit I went to ebay to che...

Re: Sample Library
Chicken Systems Translator will have full Ableton Live export ability added in the 2nd revision from now (estimated to arrive before the end of March, I'm told). All my 3rd party multisamples available as directly as Ableton's own soundset, no importing steps with Sampler or loading them into a VST....
