For a desktop, put your money toward a i7 3770k machine. Win7 is a very small price to pay for all the raw power and customization you can have at a much lower price.
Assembling the parts is just as easy as building an IKEA furniture. You just follow the instructions in the mobo manual.

Re: Question about controler and automatic mapping...
Thanks for the reply!
And do you know any better option than the mpk49 for general music composing? I dont care so much the sliders and pads but I want Ableton "recording" buttons for faster navigation and a good quality keyboard. Now I am on a korg nanokeys and it's killing me.

Question about controler and automatic mapping...
My current controler (a simple keyboard with no sliders) is broken. I am checking the AKAI MPK49 just now. Do you have to map all the pads and sliders by hand or Ableton understand and will map your 8 first tracks levels to the sliders, and the drums you select to the pads automatically? Just asking...

my mix started to get better when I started lowering the volume of all my tracks to around -5db. Easier to make a breathing mix like that.

Re: Canon t3i+18-55mm+55-250mm for music video...
I got a GTX 285. Not much of a Cuda powerhouse but very good for 3D apps. Better in fact than the 5xx and 6xx series which are crippled in that regard. The weird think is that Premiere Pro handle very well my own compressed H264 files but not the one coming from the camera. Im just curious because A...

Re: Canon t3i+18-55mm+55-250mm for music video...
Thanks for the graphic! Well, that's about it, it take the raw dynamic range and squeeze it into the 8bit codec. This is great indeed! I wish I knew about it last year... That would have make a 7D shooting a whole lot easier. I use After Effects on a pc workstation. I had trouble on a project in pre...

Re: Canon t3i+18-55mm+55-250mm for music video...
Yes I saw comparison (neutral vs technicolor) and indeed the technicolor is greyed out but it's ewxactly what we want before grading. I can see more details in the highlight and more in the shadows. Are you saying it take the info from the RAW and compress it in the h264 codec? If it's that, it's aw...

Re: Canon t3i+18-55mm+55-250mm for music video...
Thanks guys! Very appreciated! The technicolor color profile look very neat! Is it really get you more dynamic range or it's just a cheat?? Will you get more banding after color correct? Cotdagoo, I agree with you that a cameraman would be better for the project, however it's a no budget at all thin...

Canon t3i+18-55mm+55-250mm for music video...
Hi! Anyone familiar with canon dslr? Now that the t4i is out, the t3i is cheaper. I can get the t3i and the 2 kit lenses for 599$. Not bad I think. I already got the 24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and a 85mm 1.8. Should do the job nicely I think. However it might be a mistake... should I wait the t4i to drop pr...

Re: Does the new Macbook with retina display work with ableton!
Yes the GPU run you open windows and GUI. Some people report that playing fullscreen youtube movies on the Retina Macbook cause lag and stutter. Some dont have this problem. Might depend on your resolution... I think the Retina is a really good idea and I want one myself but there's a bit of sloppyn...

Re: Does the new Macbook with retina display work with ableton!
I didn`t tried it but was contemplating buying it. However the problems are quite clear on CGtalk forums (3d and 2d softwares). Everything that use the gpu is very slow which is normal because the GPU got to double the resolution to drive. There's now a warning to photographers to not buy this unit ...

Re: Does the new Macbook with retina display work with ableton!
I think ableton will work just fine (but will look like shit)however you should be aware that more and more problems are surfacing on MacRumors forums. Poor GUI performance, light bleeding, flickers, low brighness... The genius bar is full of unsatisfied customers. Problem is, when you pay 3000$ on ...
