Re: Trying to make an electronics order... need some assistance!
Mouser.com. MTA connectors. The pseudonym I was looking for. I love how a day or two of persistent head-scratching can lead to a morning of entirely new possibilities. One thing I can learn from this thread is the value of fully reading a block of text if I am going to bother putting myself into a c...

Re: Trying to make an electronics order... need some assistance!
Wow man. very helpful. The problem with buying these sorts of parts is that there are a number of different solutions, but usually the only way of knowing what you are dealing with is by waiting weeks in advance to receive things from from a remote location and in a huge order. I think I may just ri...

Trying to make an electronics order... need some assistance!
Yo! I need to purchase a spool of ribbon cable (I am thinking .5 spacing), at least 200ft but I would gladly buy more for the bulk discount. I also need a dozen or so IDC connectors in the .1 spacing range to run some headers into a microcontroller. The problem is that I do not know how to find thes...

Clarification regarding path deletion
If you delete a device that is controlling an interface object, is this path truly freed? Are there exceptions or problems if I was to try to claim that path for anothe device? Is there a step that I should take in between? The reason I ask is because I seem to recall threads where people tried to d...

Re: why do I need m4l for just using m4l devices, not developing
Think about it this way:
for the price of using m4l devices you also get to tinker with them. For any hardcore live user that should be enough. This means you could pay someone like me to build you whatever you felt your live set was missing.

Re: a M4L patch i made to test/demonstrate use of M4L API
The best solution is to select all code within editor window, go to file- copy compressed, and paste the text here in the forum. <pre><code> ----------begin_max5_patcher---------- 386.3ocyTFzSBCCEG+71mhW5EufKtxffdii3ISzaFhozU1pt0tr9V.jv2cos aJXTBIfFtrl9uu9d+6u9VWGFPloWJLD3N3YHHXcXPfSxJDzNOfTxVxKXFWX...

If you search max/help for communication and select patch two it will show you how an example of data coming back. You should be able to format this in a way to communicate with either a API or midi manner. If your question is about formatting there should several available examples. I'll reread thi...

Re: why do I need m4l for just using m4l devices, not developing
Here's some more spam: Not only will you save money, but you can make things that otherwise are impossible to create within live. I started to take M4L for granted because I spend most of my time using it for work. Work that would not exist without it. However, that is a mistake. It has opened doors...

seriously, if you have kids, a pain in the ass job or a high maintenance wife/gf forget it. luckily I have none of those although my (non-74) cycling habit's taken up most of my m4L time. a season for all things... I both agree and disagree. My experience is that if you are learning max to learn ma...

Re: Programming is a valuable skill and M4L is great intro
Yep. About 4 or 5 years. I "leveled-up" multiple times with each project I made. By the third year I developed a lot more confidence and things went much quicker. Now I see that it really is all about confidence. It's clearly not intelligence. Everything you need is documented within the m...
