There are stacks of good articles on the net about mixing - try google. Simple rule to et your started - if it an effectively mono signal, then keep it mono on a single track, or it stereo because it a synth where left and right are guenuinely carrying different signals (diffently panned oscs for eg...

The way I work with live these days sounds pretty much like what you are trying to. I basically have an 8 port pair midi interface and a 16 out, 24 in audio interface. All my synths and fx have their audio routed directly back into Live with audio channels on monitor=input mode. Even have some hardw...

Best combo IMHO is software sequencer (Live of course :)), Software drums (Stylus RMX for me) and hardware drum machine and a bunch of hardware synths. Have no software synths at all and currenly cant see myself ever buying any unless something really special comes up. Effects ae a mix of software a...

First software sequencer - something I wrote on my BBC micro for controlling gear via gate/cv for a DIY modular I built, then added midi control to it when I got a CZ101. First hardware sequencer - TB303 and TR606 combo. First audio recorder - an old valve based ampex reel to reel - was one of the e...

Its trivial to test - get a non beat synth sound for which beat warp wouldnt be appropriate, but still has alot of timberal change in it - for eg vocal, guitars and actualy quite alot of synth sounds. Create audio track, set input to resample hit record. Once you have your clip go through all the wa...

- Topic: How does Live's CPU meter relate to the actual CPU of the pc
- Replies: 18

Another thought - on my dual core PC I find that if I force the CPU affinity to CPU 2, then live run a hell of alot smoother and CPU meter in live is slighly lower. More usefully I can run live way more stressed at lower latencies and it remains glitch free. In Live preferences I have multi-cpu supp...
