how to optimize windows 7 for audio production and ableton?

is win 7 ok for working with audio? or better to try to setup XP on a new laptop?

ok, clear, but again - there must be some basic rules for eqing and compressing. i mean - may be kicks sould have specific frequencies, when checking with analyser , and so do bass... so which frequencies are they? what about 300 HZ on kick drum which is mud and should be cutted? and what bout 2 - 5...

yes i also noticed that there is even limiter on master channel in ableton demo song, and multiband compressor...

i agree - turning to proffessionals : guys please put some demo files with right combination effects for bass anc kick...for producing

so as i understood i put compression (with ducking) and then saturator / or distortion and after this chain - EQ to eleminate high frequencies which distortion / saturator will give to bass? and on kick i just put compression and eq? and how to set compressor for kick ? and for bass? i mean leves of...

yep:) thats i know , to read and practice - so i do now. but which eq settings and compressor settings to use? and which is the best VST compressor and EQ? im serious about my future productions, so im now setting up my studio all way up ! may be someone could send me a ableton example of compressor...

hi so when writing a track, how much dB are usually kick and bass should be on a channel? i mean peaking at which dB? for breakbeat / full on trance mine are usually peaking both (bass and kick @ -12dB) and how to eq and compress them right? (may be making a group of bass and kick?) please suggest b...

but - ok, and what bout putting limiter on separate channels ? drums ? bass ? so they sound tigther, without clipping?

which effects you put on your master channel when producing so overal mix will sound punch and tight?

i put compressor, EQ (40 HZ cut and little cut at 200 HZ area) and limiter

any suggestions?
