USB interfaces would be better for laptops if they are self powered. Most FW audio units will not run self powered on the smaller FW pins.

I've been thinking about picking up the Native Instruments Audio 6, but I'm having a hard time finding good comparison to justify that. If I can spend less get and get the same or better quality...

I'm surprised NI hasn't dropped Battery. Most developers make their drum libraries for Kontakt.
