CDs are a different matter, I think they have a bit left in them yet, I just think the nature of how vinyl has been kept alive largely by the dance music industry, which is largely made up by smaller independant labels, they wont be able to afford to any more - and even the bigger ones supported by...

I must say, as irritating as eye catching sigs can be, especially the animated ones, the penguins always make me smile.

If your lookng to learn about synthesis, getting reaktor would be like getting a trigonometery textbook to learn about math.

Start with operator. Then move up to Reaktor.

Well, perhaps your right.

Hey, with the upcoming scarcity, it'll be a good investment then :)

1. 2 powerbooks, connected with a crossover cable and sync'd through midi over tcp/ip, an uc-33e, a nord rack2 synth, and soon, a nostromo speedpad (yay ebay!). And a tambourine. 2. Naked 3. Mullet '79 One of the things in the above list isn't true. I leave it as an excercise to the reader to deter...

My biggest gear regret was selling my Nord Lead 2. That thing was a beauty. True there may be synths out there that have more features, and may even sound better, but the simplicity of working on that this was unparalleled. Having a knob for every parameter was a godsend. I never got burnt out on tw...

In 15 years, vinyl DJ's and the respect for them will be a thing of the past. Like the tape deck DJ's before them. I don't think so. It may die for those DJ's who are only interested in playback, but the turntable has moved beyond merely a way to playback music. It has evolved into a musical instru...

With physcal things, there is always a limited supply, hence there is always the notion of worth, be it great or small. If you remove the laws of physical reproduction, like you do in the digital realm, suddenly the supply is unlimited, and the basis for worth needs to be found elsewhere. .... k th...

I myself ordered a PowerBook on Friday. My logic being that by the time I need a new machine, the platform will be well supported. It's the same logic I used with the migration to OSX, and it worked well. I switched over when 10.2 came out, and by that time, there were plenty of plug-ins and applic...

I got the skinny that Mr. Henke won't b at NAMM this year, which suggests to me that the Abe's don't have a big announcement planned. Seems like he'd be there to demo it if they did.

I'll be there for all four days, so I'll try and keep the forum up to speed on the latest and greatest each night.

haha ..you are dead on imo here is the way i look at it really: its great for the artist because now you are bypassing so much crap and so many middlemen. so as long as you can reach people that are into what you do you can potentially make more money. also, more money faster, because its so much c...

It would make sense to release a powerbook first. If they were to release an ibook that was intel powered and more powerful and faster than the current powerbooks I would think the sales for powerbooks would come to a dead hault. Actually, releasing iBooks and iMacs first would make more sense. The...

There's something about the slight distortion and artifacts generated by records that make the music seeem more real. tiny bit of saturator + that vinyl noise plug. lol ... no really, try it it really all depends on whether you want to pay the extra $10-12 for the artwork and a little bit of mystiq...
