Re: Help regarding frequencies
speakers near walls or corners tend to create all sorts of resonance in the bass end... and also yeah isolate your monitors from the surface theyre sitting on (I have some Auralex pads and they're fairly cheap and do the job admirably) also I find it really helps to be anal about each individual ele...

Re: new to Ableton and looking for setup recommendations
it totally depends on where you end up going and what you end up doing with live. I know you said 'djing/production' but there are so many ways you can go about approaching it that there definitely isn't a hard and fast rule about what you should or shouldn't buy... apart from, if you want to perfor...

Re: Cycling through clips...
follow actions. click on the clip in question. look at the bottom of the screen, (make sure you're in clip view), and on the left hand side, there are three little circles with L, a stave, and E. Make sure L is selected/on. this enables you to see launch options for that clip. under the 'launch' col...

loving all these suggestions! Thanks.
@ Pitch Black yeah I kinda saw that that's what you were doing in your walkthrough video and also in the Redbull video I found somewhere...
@ teardove I would DEARLY love to be able to control Geiss 2.0 with MIDI. Have you seen that shit? it is off the hook!

Untitled Live Act
So here is our very first full hour session recording. Our "lineup" is me controlling Ableton's tracks and effects, and the drummer Rich making all sorts of weird percussivey noises with his e-kit. lots of knob-twiddly, button-pressing, fader-pushing joy. We are still yet to think of a nam...

NICE. I had no idea you could map a range of notes.
Thanks!
Thanks!

the keys on your midi keyboard - how do YOU use them live?
So after years of *talking* about doing a live laptop set, I'm finally about to actually DO one. I have spent the last few months developing/designing my Live setup and have an electronic drummer in tow. And all is sounding sweet. Lovely. My hands-on tools are a Trigger Finger, a Virus Snow, an Axio...

Re: Push on/off MIDI pad for use w/ beat repeat
I have an Axiom 49 and use the pads for effects instead of triggering sounds/clips/samples whatever so I thought I should pipe up here.... what I do is use the pads not to send MIDI note information, but MIDI cc data, akin to turning a knob... except with this when you push the button down it sends ...

Re: is it possible to change presets automatically?
well we're still developing the system but each bank typically has 3 impulses and one rack simpler instrument (using the 'slice to new midi track' feature, we find melodic loops and export them to a multi layered simpler instrument, and then imcorporate the new multi instrument into the 'mega rack' ...

Re: is it possible to change presets automatically?
thanks for pointing me in the right direction longjohns :D I'm new to Live 8, having just upgraded from v5 so racks were new to me and a little confusing, but I spent a few hours sussing it out and for anyone who's interested, here's how I programmed it: in one giant instrument rack, I created 16 ch...

is it possible to change presets automatically?
so I've designed a bunch of different impulse instruments and drum racks for a drummer friend of mine to trigger using his electronic drum kit.... All good, but is it possible to send program change information INTO Live's presets and get a clip (or ideally a button on a MIDI controller) to change w...

Re: dummy clips for Return tracks?
some useful stuff there! But not what I'm after. I want to be able to use dummy clips to control effects that live in my return channels, not on the audio channels... is it possible?
