I'm talking about soldering onto the back of the pots (so onto a smooth surface rather than a tab with a hole) but thanks for the tips, this may help me in the future.

[OT] Rant about soldering

Why is it that the back of volume pots on electric instruments seem to be made out of a metal designed especially for solder not to adhere to them!!?? AAAAAARRRGGHH!!! Surely something can be done about this other than my usual "mountain of solder until it stays" approach...

Thanks for the tips guys, the general consensus seems to be that any 1/4" tape will fit it, but I have a friend who knows all about reel to reel so he will come and confirm this some time. My aim is indeed to record stuff from ableton onto tape and back again to make it sound tapey, and also do...

[OT] Reel to reel tape recorders

I just picked up an old BSR KB reel to reel tape recorder today for £5 at the local market, I have to get some tape for it... does anyone have any tips/experience of reel to reel? Any idea what kind of tape I should get for it or how I can work this out? It seems pretty cool anyway, I can't wait to ...

I read in the Dance Music Manual by Rick Snoman that HiFi systems only reproduce sounds above 50Hz and PAs only reproduce stuff above about 30Hz I seem to remember, so to be on the safe side I get rid of stuff below about 20Hz

I use a PodXT Live with Live, however I've never tried synching it... Might be worth looking at the back of the Pod manual, there is some kind of list of MIDI messages that apply to it. The only thing I've done is use it for recording, and MIDI assigning the expression pedal...

Ah yes, by MIDI it doesn't matter, but by network you need some sort of software MIDI device to do it, and I've only ever done it on Mac by just to test it (Mac OS X comes with a Network MIDI option in the Audio/MIDI setup). Does anyone have experience of how reliable it is to sync up two Mac laptop...

The thing is though, to change the pitch I'm going to need to warp my audio, whereas originally the audio was at the right pitch, and the files have somehow ended up being corrupted. I was just wondering if anyone knows why this is,or what I could try... It would be a shame to warp the audio... I ma...
