ah, so its just that ableton can't edit rex files. but as you say, no prob, ableton has the awesome "slice to midi", so there we go! thanks for the heads up.

ok, me again -- so i just did a new clip from a combinator, and sure enough it's a midi clip. the first one (which i thought was audio) was from a Dr. Rex, so i'm thinking that's what led me to the above (mistaken) assumption....though in the reason sequencer you get more control over dr. rex record...

so let me get this straight, when you use the "external instrument" in ableton to grab channels from Reason 4, you're inputting Midi (say, to make a clip) but then what you're actually recording is *NOT* midi, but rather Audio....yes? that's what i'm seeing here as i'm messing around with ...

I'm interested in using compression with side-chaining for keeping the kick drum track punchy within mixes containing lots of other bass-heavy sources. The ableton manual talks briefly about this technique being the dance producers "secret weapon" -- but I'm still not thoroughly understand...

i keep finding out-of-date links online about "free" covert operators volumes to boost the preset bank on Operator. Just bought Ableton Suite and looking to do just that....but the only links I find for said CO packs are dead....do these still exist? can anybody show me where? thanks! -Mic...
