Hippy Guitarist wants bubbly trippy noises.

Yeah I know it's outdated stuff, but I'm a dedicated fan of Steve Hillage bubbly echoey trancy noises. Question is: Can you do this kind of stuff with Ableton, or would you get a specific VST? I assume Operator would be the weapon of choice with automated filters and echos maybe? I haven't really th...

Re: compact disc.. do you still buy them (no seriously..)

Haha, what an amazing statement. Basically you are a thief and will say pret-ty much anything, no matter how stupid, to make you feel better about stealing money from artists, who are one of the few groups of people dedicated to bring beauty in this world. Way to go mate! But actually Macmurphy said...

Re: Running Guitar rig on 4 channels rapes my CPU, any fix?

The Pod is very good yeah, apart from losing the clean recording. Which is great for embarrassing guitarists btw, that screaming metal solo? Can sound like an epileptic banjo when you play just the clean version. Separates the men from the boys that one =)

Re: Is it possible to record takes??

Not sure if this is exactly what you mean but I use Session view for this kind of thing Set the accompanying clips to loop and start recording, maybe stick a count in at the start if needed and hit record. Keep going round and round as many times as you like till you hit paydirt (or run out of disks...

Re: WTF is SoundCloud player doing to my audio!? clicks, pops..

Normalising could be a problem. As I understand it, as you compress with MP3 there is a small raise in level. The higher the compression, the higher this effect and if there's no overhead, you get clipping. SC re-convert when they process your track for streaming, presumably at 128? Anyway, you shou...

Re: Lower Latency with USB than with Firewire; how??

The only issue I have had with USB is bandwidth. The USB soundcard I have reserves 40% of the USB bandwidth, my wind controller wants 20%, all good till I plugged in a Webcam and my EWI stopped working... Turns out that the webcam wanted 60% reserved... That was the only issue I have had with USB, n...

Re: Singer

Laughing is what cured me of stage fright. You can make light of mistakes and the audience will follow suit. No offence to classical music, but the whole scene, by and large with a few notable exceptions, forgets that music is supposed to be enjoyed by the players too, how often do you see members o...

Re: Things you wish you had known earlier...

I disagree with your disagreement =) Music is all about heart, the more you put in, the better. If you aren't feeling it, you can't put the heart in it. I disagree with your disagreeing with my disagreement. 100% of the time, the cause *I* don't feel like making music is because something doe...

Re: Things you wish you had known earlier...

4. Don’t force yourself to write if you’re not feeling it. Go outside, take care of your errands and BS, and come back to it when it’s fun again. Even if that means a month long hiatus (or longer). I agree with the rest, but I disagree with this one. While procrastination does make one feel more co...
