Re: Who thinks their music is original?
Whut no Steve Hillage? Utterly original guitarist, the greatest British guitarist to tread a stage (in my humble, but knowledgeable opinion). Technically superb, with an ability to play over the changes that you just don't hear outside a tiny number of the very best jazzers out there. Check out 'L' ...

Re: Recomend a good spectrum/rms/analyzer
Minor threadjack, but kinda on topic enough.
Is there such a thing as a spectrum analyzer that superimposes different tracks in one display, colour coded for example? Would be useful for spotting areas of contention I think.

Re: Ampkit or Amplitube?
GRig is the only amp sim that doesn't make me shriek and recoil in horror, it's startlingly good and regularly awakens the inner rock dinosaur in me. Pods are good too, but sounds like they have ballsed up MIDI integration which sucks. Both however still sound 'farty' at the bottom to me, no grit at...

Re: How awesome are SSD drives?
If your just going to use it for a pagge file, then surely just get more main memory for your machine? Cheaper and far more efffective! RAM is limited by CPU addressing e.g. 4gb for 32bit processor, paging isn't. Paging is a fact of life, paging always happens. And no I wouldn't use it 'just' for p...

Re: How awesome are SSD drives?
I would use it for your page file, Ableton Library and Ableton sets. If you use it for OS you will mostly speed up boot and not much else. Use it for data that is read and written a LOT. OS files tend to be load once and stay resident, except when paged which is why you should stick your page file o...

Re: Guitar Swell in Live
Seriously, get a volume pedal. No amount of automation will ever quite satisfy as it forces your playing into a fixed rythmn. A pedal will set you free to be so much more expressive. If you can get a midi pedal to control the automation so much the better as it would keep the raw guitar unaffected i...

Re: How did you find out what kind of music you wanted to make?
I picked up a ukulele and bingo... chamber folk. Total surprise to me, f*cked if I know where that came from. Just happened. Enjoying it though. If you decide your genre before you start then you are what I call a "Genre Tribute Artist", cool if it makes you happy but I don't want to be in...

Re: iPhone/iPod as usb drive for audio files, on guest pc
I have used Floola to load MP3 onto an iPod with satisfactory results. Basically just get yourself another audio player with USB connection. Actually almost every single player on the market lets you do what the iPod won't, for a fraction of the price.

Re: Mysterious Random
Every programming language under Gods Earth has a random generator. To create one from scratch would require understanding these very complex issues you are trying to avoid. They are simply mathematical functions that produce very very long sequences of seemingly random numbers. E.g. PI for example,...

There's definitely a notes featurem though Evernote is very good and is probably better in many ways, just a separate program
