Re: Music theory help?
and he basically broke into the scene by stealing other people's music. ha. how is that for a rebel? but then he could back it up wth even better music of his own. I have to respectfully disagree - yes, he became known as a young prodigy playing many already existing works (as did Mozart and many o...

Re: Music theory help?
Its nice to see questions like these pop up on here - There are several good books on music theory out there, but I would highly recommend one that's in the style of a workbook - with written exercises along with each lesson - makes all the difference with retaining what you're reading about. I agre...

Re: some music theory questions
Even most of the simplest of songs in C major don't exclusive use "white keys". Its not all that simple. ...and unfortunately, there's no simple answer as to "...so then which black keys can I also use". Unless you really want to learn (on whatever level you feel comfortable) mus...

Re: Not enough memory problem
Hey Ableton - how about fixing this fundamental liability BEFORE coming up with brand new features for Live 9?! I think we'd all just be happy with a perfectly working - non-crashing - version of Live 8... call that "Live 9" if you want (and then charge us a ridiculous amount for the upgra...

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
I've used Live live many times - both in conjunction with a live band and straight up as a dj - other people who I work with use it too. I don't feel completely comfortable, but that's always the case with anything that plugs in. If you're DJing and by yourself, have an ipod ready as insurance. I'd ...

Re: Please help me sync two laptops with live on both!!
...just hoping to get some responses on this thread too. I read through what's here, but I'm not sure it addresses what I (and Thomas) seem to want to do - Synching two laptops to be played by two different people. I don't need to do it wirelessly.

"..or you chould choose Help > Max Help and type "joystick" into the search window and see what happens." ...very first thing I did, but thanks for the suggestion. "Have a look at this thread on cycling74 forums: http://cycling74.com/forums/topic.php?id=24021" ...I read...

Re: how to communicate with control surfaces
I'm sorry to butt in on this thread with what may seem like such an amateur question, but -- How do you get Max For Live to recognize a non-traditional control surface... ie a joystick? The only tutorial I can find says.... "Once you've got your device plugged in, go ahead and start up MaxMSP a...

Re: Akai APC 40: Has it delivered?
Its great for the studio, cumbersome for touring. That's just logistics. I sold mine because of it though. ...that being said, its a great piece with nearly endless possibilities. I wouldn't be surprised if years from now, its considered an important piece in the evolution of technology and creating...

Padded Backpacks for DJs...
I know I started a similar thread that revolved moreso around the APC40. This one isn't specific to the "tank". I've since sold mine. Too big to tour with. ...that's beside the point. I notice a lot of companies - no so necessarily musically related making laptop backpacks, but those usual...
