Re: Installing Max4live devices in 9

Don't you have to drag it to the user library or 'places' or something? I don't have access to Live 9 anymore, but IIRC the top part of the browser is hard coded and only takes factory content.

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

i wonder what you'd have to do to get this up and running on a Mac??? Jack OSX comes with a standard installer. Works perfectly. So does windows. As I said, Angstrom's quote is from an obsolete how-to page that hasn't been changed for two versions. None of what he quoted needs to be done anymore. W...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

Harrison Mixbus supports jack with no issues whatsoever. Transport Sync is in Jack for Linux, I've never bothered to check in windows. Jack is tried and true technology under Linux, I'm frankly amazed we're even having this argument. If you want to have a cross-plattform DAW you need to use cross-pl...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

Damn, Wasoota. You just got told. Just kidding. I only really stay informed on what is essential to what I'm doing or want to do at the moment. I'm sure I'll get a little nerdier in the future since I just quit smoking tons of high quality marijuana a few months ago. It's been an enlightening...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

The midi out thing was in reference to external instruments but now that I think about it there has to be some kind of workaround anyway. They aren't going to support Rewire but are using an alternative called Jack or something to that effect. Jesus man, read up. 8O Jack is what ReWire dreams of be...

Re: 64 bit or not?

And there is of course a CPU hit with jBridge, it just won't show up in Live's CPU meter, because it's an external process (like running your browser won't show up either). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's also recommended by jBridge's developer that you raise the buffer size on your interface ...

Re: 64 bit or not?

I got significantly better performance for live processing (Guitar amp and effects VSTs) in 64bit Live when I still had an i5/4GB RAM system, especially at higher sample rates (96kHz). Something like 25% better, meaning setups I could run at 64bit couldn't be run in 32bit without choking. But if you...

Re: Max for Live and Live 8?

If they don't eventually add 6.1 support to Live 8. It's all about selling Live 9 now so when the sales slack off it may yet happen. Most devices are still Max 5 compatible for now (the most notable exception being Granulator II) and Live 9 isn't discounted at the moment so IMO there's no rush to ge...

Re: audiomulch

With my perceived Live 9 lameness I took a look at it again. It always did a lot out of the box that I had hoped Live 9 would add in some form but didn't. The metasurface is absolutely amazing and audiomulch is a very polished product now, much more so than last time I tried it. What put me off buyi...

Re: What's new in Max for Live in Live 9?

Nice list. One thing: Many of the devices listed as new have been around since Live 8 (certainly Instant Haus and Buffer Shuffler). The new thing is that they are now bundled in a single 'essentials' pack. Some of the content in the pack is truly new though (like the convolution reverb). It would be...

Re: m4L fragmentation after Live 9?

Seems to me there is no way around it. You've already given an example where forward compatibility is missing (Density) and I never expect backwards compatibility with a new version, let alone two (both Live and Max changing versions) plus possible 32 bit/64 bit issues... Ah, the joys of the comput...

Re: trackballs

Honestly, I'd stay away from Logitech trackballs; 3 broke on me in 2 years (LMB cheap switch). Same here on one of them. But warranty is two years here. I had a Microsoft trackball of the same design that held for half a decade or more. I love trackballs and Logitech is the only company aside from ...

Re: trackballs

Their SlimBlade uses the trackball itself to scroll rather than a separate scroll ring, but it doesn't do horizontal scrolling (last time I checked). http://accoblobstorageus.blob.core.windows.net/assets/images/productimages/mbank41566_w373_h373.jpg http://www.kensington.com/kensington/us/us/p/1444...

m4L fragmentation after Live 9?

Just wondering. Live 9 running m4L 6 and Live 8 running max 5. Density for one only runs in m4L 5 (for now at least), not 6. I'm sure there's others too. With the upgrade to Live 9 not exactly a no brainer, will that fragment the max for Live 'community' into Live 9 users and Live 8 users? Or is max...
