You can rack your Fx, but not instruments. At least not in the channel strip. It's easy to layer, by cabling your stuff together copying regions, and grouping channels, but yeah, I can see how having two or more instruments in one channel strip would be cool too. You can make your own channel strips...

I love throwing my sounds thru multiple Guitar Amps. Filters I also use extensively. And delays, I love delays and multiple delays being delayed delayed... Or soemthing like that...

learn as many keyboard shortcuts as you can... Use screen sets, for the mixer, sample editor, piano roll, the score, and the hyper editor, not that funky extra window that you can get thru the arrange page.

Let's not forget the bloody in ulcers you can get when mixing aspirin and alcohol!

I was thinking the same thing...

A lot of times I start with a beat, but most of the time I just start by creating a new sound from scratch... Once I have a cool sound, things just build themselves around it naturally.
