Actually I was more interested in getting Suite than an upgrade to 9. And my main interest is Push. I already have most add-ons in Live 8 so buying the Suite license doesn't change anything for my working situation. But it seems Live 9 Suite is needed for Push? I'd like to see a price for upgrading...

Push isn't a controller, its an instrument. There's a huge difference there. That's great to hear! I got that impression from the demo video. Have you tried it hands-on? Ouch! I just logged in with my credit card to upgrade to 8 suit but "my price" has doubled since yesterday!!! What IS this? I was close to buying yesterday, too bad I didn't. With the doubled price I'm holding back until the mess is cleared out.

Found this thread through a search three years later :-) Seems the situation has not changed. I'm using the excellent sbx 2049 skinnerbox drum seq device and can't manage to map external audio to recall a particular preset. Have tried the rack/chain method and have tried with the Kapture M4L device....
