Re: Dell Precision m6600 vs MBP vs Mac Mini
Look out for a Lenovo think pad, or an Asus. Or if you can use a desktop computer build your own, its much more easier than you think and many can advice you on picking parts based on your budget.

Re: Is Firewire Dead?
Also take in to account the very well documented problem of firewire interfaces not working properly unless the Firewirechip in the pc/laptop is from Texas Instruments, and since its more expensive that other FW chips its very hard to find a laptop with TI FW chip.

Re: Is Firewire Dead?
Yes it's dead. Mac has slowly abandon it as an standar, PC's can stilll get it in custom builds for cheap but is rarely used. Very few devices using it are developed.
So yes, it's in the way to extintion. USB 3 and thunderbolt will replace it.

Re: Buzz Word Alert: What the hell is Controllerism?
As a traditional dj this controllerism is just BS.
All those tricks doesnt work on the dancefloor, people get bored of it.
Dj's are just trying to be more cooler.

DJing features I will like
Things I would like a lot:
a) That the library displays MP3 tags: track name, artist, genre, label, etc
b) That the classic 3 band eq "0" in the middle.

Rockit IMHO are harsh mid frquencies. M-audio BX had a boost on lower frquencies. ...

Re: Anybody know of any sound design tutorials?
Search for Sound On sound synthesis tutorials articles, they were published like abot 5 years and cover all the basics of substractive and FM, and then they are ones dedicated to synthetize specific sounds.
