Re: succesfully producing electronica without piano background??

i got my few piano knowledge from producing and arranging. i'm interested in music theory and so i learned on the piano playing chords. melodies and basses are no problem anyway after doing it for a couple of years. you never become a good piano player without lessons but for sequencer use you don't...

Re: Anyone throw away a song they've been working on for days?

some thoughts that help me much: making music (playing, composing, arranging, producing, making sounds) is fun. if you throw something away and start over the fun begins again! don´t cry for wasted time if the time was good! some ideas: - if you have good sounds and riffs: keep them. just throw away...

Re: Won't advances eventually make musicians near obsolete?

the topic question is obsolete.

if you invent a roboter which can drink wine: would wine drinkers be obsolete?

music making is the fun, not music consuming. and people who can´t play music at least dance to participate the process.

Re: The most realistic orchestra sound possible

i do orchestral and big band stuff. to learn arranging and composing for orchestras my tips are: - from time to time you should play in an orchestra. if you don't play an orchestra instrument, go to rehersals and listen. - you can't arrange for orchestra without writing score. either you write on pa...

Re: How do you begin your compositions and/or productions?

idea first!

if there´s no idea what to do it´s wasted time.
without a new idea i go working on other stuff... mixing, editing, vocal cuts, sorting sounds etc

i write down new ideas on paper... chords, melodies, words, concepts... even sound things i want to try.

Re: From Logic to Ableton

i love the possibilities in live to make racks and drumracks and sometimes fiddle about clip combining in session view. that's the fun stuff. and the audio-tempo functions are fantastic, like loopmarkers etc. for all other tasks for me logic is much faster and more effective. if serious composing me...

Re: How much can Operator really do?

operator can do all kind of synth sounds if you think in categories like bass, pad, pluck, lead... but it sounds different than basses, pads, plucks and leads from other synths. even if there is a technical congruence in many aspects there is one big thing: different synths invite to make different ...

Re: Doubling guitars and avoid phase problems

there should be no phasing problems between two different recordings. you get phasing prolems when copying an audio track in your daw and this is no musical doubling. did the guitarist play his part really twice? if so the human inaccuracy and the physic of an acoustic instrument generates slightly ...

Re: Sylenth1 vs DCAM Synth Squad vs...

i use synthsquad for the (more or less) rough and edgy sounds.
for the smooth sounds you could have a look at synapse dune or u-he ace. there are demo versions of both.
