Re: Ableton 12 and the use of efficiency and performance cores on M-processors

I get the concern, but lets' go over this a bit. Live, and a few other DAWs, (Bitwig, MPC, FL it seems etc.) do not use a "secondary buffer" or some form of pre rendering on tracks that aren't armed to save on CPU cycles. This increases their ability to not have audio glitches in playback ...

Re: The state of Push 3 stand alone

Well the fact my Push 3 received on Mon died one day later and Ableton clearly don't have enough resources to respond to customers is not good start. The fact I can't return my completely bricked paperweight to a shop to get a replacement like I could have done with Push 1 and a Push 2 is another m...

Re: The state of Push 3 stand alone

My rating is 97% awesome. Push 3 is the best experience ive ever had with an electronic instrument, after a decade of grooveboxes(electron/maschine), synths and eurorack. Its like having the worlds best sampler on your lap, with enough processing and synthy power to spark creativity forever. And in...

Re: The state of Push 3 stand alone

IMO it's pretty simple really, get a basic Scene constructing Song mode, Follow Actions, and the ability to set a time signature for a Scene. Song mode doesn't have to be complex, the MPCs song mode is as simple as it gets. None of these things are impossible. I realize it's kicking water uphill to ...

Re: mouse wheel in ableton

I think mouse wheel scroll was never introduced because Ableton Live is supposed to be, well, a live performance DAW. That might be true but there is no reason to introduce this functionality now. For some time now, Ableton Live has not been solely a performance tool. There are a lot of users that ...

Re: mouse wheel in ableton

I think mouse wheel scroll was never introduced because Ableton Live is supposed to be, well, a live performance DAW. Mouse wheel scroll for knobs and sliders in any DAW is subject to randomly changing a parameter and that goes against the UX that Ableton wants for Live. Just so people know though, ...

Re: Can we PLEAAASSSEEE finally get some proper plugin window management and UX?!!

"Facist" Really? Hurling pejoratives is sure to win them over. Well, they are in fact very authoritarian about anything that has to do with their UI design. Ableton's design choices suggest that they feel like plugin GUI windows are an abomination and an unacceptable, verminous eyesore on...

Re: Live 12 - new browser

I'm really glad Ableton came up with the dual solution they did to file browsing, but I've never completely understood why there hasn't been a universal consortium on file tagging, plug in parameter mapping, and even just universal names for object oriented MIDI and audio. Every audio developer com...

Re: Live 12 - new browser

Pretty sure tags are only for Ableton and stored in the Live database. That would be a strange decision. Wouldn't it be better if external sample packs or ableton racks were directly tagged with the correct tags when you download them because they were prepared like this by the creator? "Unive...

Re: Live 12 - new browser

Yeah the new browser, especially that they added in some AI similarity search makes this upgrade a no brainer to me. That and improvements to sample based instruments etc.

Re: Show/Hide Plug in Window of Selected Track

Rather than open another thread on this hoping that someone has an answer as to why this is so badly implemented, and it sounds like it's just a long standing partly finished area of Lives usually stellar UX. Why on earth wouldn't this just be a track based instrument plug in command? Why would anyo...

Re: Will Live ever get "Sandbox for Plugins" feature?

How do you specify which plugin gives you the crash? Remove the plugins from your plugin folder, then copy them back, one by one, and check every single plugin within Live. So you can exclude the good ones and find the bad ones. Could need some time. That's f*cking oldschool approach man. I spent w...

Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2

It's possible they add it in 9 months or so when they update 12. Unannounced major improvements between upgrade cycles have been a thing for most DAW developers for a decade or so now, and Ableton are one of the more generous that way. ARA support definitely isn't a "new feature", it's a &...

Hey. Did anyone figure out how to post a question on the forum? I don't see New Topic anywhere. Thanks.
In the same spot that "Post Reply" is when you're in a topic, it will say New Topic. You just have to not be in a topic when you post a new thread or topic etc.

Re: Live 11 Sudden CPU Spikes

IMO the most constant persistent reason for CPU spikes with any DAW is some third party VST plugin acting up. Recently Native Instruments have had massive reports of the latest versions of Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol spiking and crashing multiple DAWs, and they aren't the only potential guilty part...
