The idea of midi-through is that the exact signal which comes to midi-in will be sent to midi-through!

I think you can use the midi-scale effect. Use it to let only the note pass through (in this track) which you want!
Perhaps you must then route the midi-output of this track to a new midi-track where you record it.

The midi-editor must be switchable to fullscreen and back with a click!
It's such a pain if you recorded a longer midi-sequence which you want to edit and you must always resize the damned midi-editor because in the default size you cannot recognize anything!

I had the same problem and renamed the whole VST-Root-Folder. Then I could load the project again and I knew that the crash was caused by a VST-Plugin. Use the tools in the Ableton Live Audio-Effects. There are tools for mono and stereo panning.
I don't remember the exact name of the effect (not at home at the moment).
With the effect you can make it mono and select which channel to use for both channels.

In a midi clip you can draw an envelope for a standard midi-controller (0-127).
Then send the clip to a midi-output port connected to your external midi-gear.

I think live recorded the patch change command to the mid-clip.
Look at the clip envelopes. Perhaps there was a (midi?-)envelope recorded for the patch change...

I use an old cakewalk-version for that purpose!
It works - though it's a shame that live is not capable of separating the tracks by its own!

I think TOP 20 is not the target for producers using ableton live!

Look at DJ-charts or electronic-music-charts.

You can use the Korg Nanoseries controler with the CameraConnectionKit!
They don't need the extra battery packs!
