I would stick 24/44. Unless there arent tons of material to convert from 48 to 44 of course. I hate converting

Using the normal custom shortcuts feature on a Mac on Mountain Lion doesn't work for the F keys . I did it exactly as you described, their behavior dont change. 1/4 second (250 ms) is not normal; extremely high. It should be 10 ms as your preferences says.
