I would stick 24/44. Unless there arent tons of material to convert from 48 to 44 of course. I hate converting :D
48 is film standart, i dont see (hear) any benefits to music.

However - I have changed the F keys from the standard Mountain Lion ones, so you must me able to at least do that. Maybe they just don't work for applications, although F11 and F12 still work in Live. F keys working; but only standart Live behavior, not assignable. They dont change neither within L...

Using the normal custom shortcuts feature on a Mac on Mountain Lion doesn't work for the F keys . I did it exactly as you described, their behavior dont change. 1/4 second (250 ms) is not normal; extremely high. It should be 10 ms as your preferences says.
Maybe it is a HDD problem? Try with an external hard disk.

It seems we cannot change F1/F12 keys anymore as it used to be..
