Re: New MBP Retina? USB 3.0 Ports and USB 2.0 Devices...

Update: M-Audio has added to the article by saying that: "M-Audio USB devices are not qualified for use on USB 3.0 ports at this time. If you are experiencing problems such as pops, clicks, crackles, dropouts, and distortion, or if your device is not recognized or drops offline, make sure your ...

New MBP Retina? USB 3.0 Ports and USB 2.0 Devices...

If you're waiting for a new MacBook Pro w Retina to arrive... you should take a look at this article on createdigitalmusic about the backwards compatibility of USB3.0 ports. Re: Steve Reich Piano Phase Rack

In my rack if you map controllers to the left and right Beat Swing macros you can effectively have hardware control of the tempos of the delayed signals. This allows you to snap the tempo differences to zero when you want a particular phased phrase to repeat for a period before continuing to shift ...

Re: Steve Reich Piano Phase Rack

Excellent! I wonder if you could also do something similar using a controller to slightly vary the tempo of two piano phrases in midi clips... I know this rack is designed to automate the process but using hardware control would allow for the "physical" sensation of responding to varying t...

Re: We're looking some "remixers"

OP, I think beatmunga says no. Claydough25, I wouldn't post your email address openly on the net because some nasty spambot will come along and hoover it up and send you lots of stuff you don't want. People do free remixes all the time for other artists. If you like the original, and you like the pe...

I love the episode when Bolo the Gorilla gets imprisoned... "Oh, but I'm playing at Fabric at the weekend..." Genius.

And best of all... when Naboo visits Shamansbury's... total, utter genius.

Re: why ABLETON support sucks?

Ableton support, in my experience, is absolutely superb. It's been a while since I was in touch but they totally bent over backwards to help. I bought a UC33 deal from them and the company that should have delivered the device to Ableton screwed up - so Ableton upgraded me from Live 4 to 5 FOR FREE,...

Lounge FAIL

Not sure about this Lounge idea Dennis... feels like all us naughty OT kids have been sent outside to play... boo.

Can't we all come back in to your nice General place? Promise we won't be too loud...

Re: Introducing "The Lounge"

Unanswered posts link is top left. New posts link is top right. What he said. Tape Op used to have a great forum... then one day they made sweeping changes to cut down OT stuff in their General forum. They implemented that hideous GUI design (which is still there to this day), and they got rid of t...

Re: Ableton HQ please read

I think this demonstrates pretty well what has been said here for ages... Ableton users enjoy beta testing BEFORE the new version is released, not AFTER they have paid for it and hope to start using it in "mission critical" situations (ie, onstage). Since my brokepunkass can't afford to bu...

Re: Killer iPad app

I'm seeing something slightly different that doesn't require VNC or wireless operation: 1) Download a special version of Ableton Live for iPad 2) Connect iPad to laptop via USB port. 3) Open Live on the laptop, select "Ableton Live for iPad" as a Control Surface. This automatically opens ...

Re: The end for Laptops's? iPad concept the future!?

The iPad in it's current form will definitely not kill off laptops. For a start you need something to sync the iPad with in the first place - a laptop or desktop. I'm sure it will evolve to become much more than it currently is but that will be quite a few years away I think. I agree about the diffi...

Re: touch osc for ableton

I just d/led it and tried it - awesome. I didn't know anything about it until I was reading threads about the iPad tonight. You need TouchOSC and also Osculator (well, and an iPhone). It all works beautifully. I've only scratched the surface of using it. Anybody else?

Re: Today is the day APPLE changes the world. Again.

Still wish it wasn't called iPad. 1 You Americans won't be able to tell when someone is talking about their iPod or their iPad. 2 When you tell your mum "I've got an iPad!" she'll expect you to come home wearing a black eye patch like a pirate. I'm all for good ole' anti-American humour, ...
