Is Digital Amplification Bad?
Hey guys! So as I'm recording and mixing things, I generally try to keep as hot of a signal as possible, ideally using digital gain meters only to quieten sounds rather than amplify. Until now I've always been under the impression that analog amplification is alright, but digital amplification shoul...

Sidechain Compression with Kick AND Snare
Hey guys! So occasionally I find myself with the desire to sidechain compress a track using both the kick drum and the snare drum. Unfortunately, you can only choose one track for the input to the sidechain compression, which leads me to wonder what the best way to accomplish this would be. I've tri...

Re: How Can I Purchase a Spring Reverb?
Yeah, I'm hoping for an out of the box analog spring reverb. Ideally one where I can touch the spring directly.

How Can I Purchase a Spring Reverb?
Hey guys! So this may be a dumb question, but lately I've fallen in love with the sound of a good spring reverb and I'm interested in the ability to factor those sounds into my own productions. Looking for this though, I can't seem to find a way to buy a spring reverb effect short of buying the reve...

What exactly do you mean by consistency issues?Broomptish wrote:Also meant to add optical said he much preferred using saturation or distortion to brint things up due to consistency issues, just another point of view, a really interesting one i thought.

How Can I Hear When Compression is Needed?
Hey guys! If there's any concept in production that I'm most intimidated by it has to be compression. Don't get me wrong, I perfectly understand the ideas behind compression, and exactly how compressors work and what they do, but what I'm struggling with is being able to hear when something calls fo...

Please Help With Drum Sequencer
Hey guys! So I’m working on a drum sequencer for a project, but I’m running into some problems with it that I’d love some insight on. First off let me describe what I’m hoping to do. I’m hoping to build a step sequencer that allows for drum sequence programming for up to 8 drum sounds and up to 8 pa...

Re: Waveforms Distorting in Abelton.
Look up what clipping is. Essentially, you can't go "out of the range" of the viewer, as there isn't anything past that range, so you distort your audio if you try and do that. It's called clipping.

Re: inverting or delaying mod wheel value
Here you go:

Place that as a midi effect before your soft synth and choose the range that you want your mod wheel to cover.

Re: inverting or delaying mod wheel value
I would imagine that you could change how much the mod wheel opens up the filter in your soft synth. If not I could always make a quick m4l patch that could let you set the range of the mod wheel.

Re: inverting or delaying mod wheel value
Yep. You'd just need to make a patch that changes the midi data from the mod wheel. What specifically are you trying to do?

Re: Can You Use a Spring Reverb Tank By Itself?
Could an audio interface make do for the impedance/level matching? I'm hoping to run line level signals through one of these. I don't mind having no dry/wet control either, as I was planning on using it entirely wet as a send in Ableton.

So something like http://www.amazon.com/Mod-Reverb-Tank-8 ... ing+reverb would work straight out of the box?

Can You Use a Spring Reverb Tank By Itself?
Hey guys! So I've been into the idea of making/acquiring my own spring reverb for the interesting textures they provide. I've noticed that you can buy reverb tanks from amps by themselves. Does anyone know if it's possible to use one of these by itself as reverb effect unit?
Thanks,
Charlie

Massive's Basic Waveforms Suck..Or Is It Me?
Hey guys! So I don't know about you guys but every time I turn to Massive for some basic synthesizer needs, I find that they're raw basic waveforms (square, saw, triangle, etc) all just kind of suck. Don't get me wrong, I love Massive with it's routing and the crazy sounds it can achieve, but every ...
