i think someone who gets drunk/fucked up everyday and can function in their relationships & be mentally balanced is in better shape than an occasional user who becomes unraveled when they get drunk or whatever.

My song writing partner and I used the MDR 7506's for years and thought they sounded good but we always complained of ear fatigue. They are a little bright around 2khz - 3khz. Just enough to give me a headache. We both switched to Ultrasone Proline 650's and I am headache free. The bass response is ...

This news kind of cheers me up. I was feeling bummed hearing that the Intel imac was twice as fast as the iMac I just bought 6 months ago. My current iMac does a great job with Live with plenty of CPU head room. I'll wait a year for the bugs to be worked out and then maybe it'll be time for a new Ma...

Does anyone use the MIDI over ethernet tool in OSX? The box is clever but Macs can already do that without a box, all you need is an ethernet cable.

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 40%
2) iMac 2Ghz 20"
3) Tiger
4) G5 2Ghz
5) 512 MB RAM
6) Core Audio built in
7) 250 Gb SATA @ 7200rpm

It bounced around from 38 to 40%. I don't know why it would be faster than the dual 2 Ghz power mac. I think I followed the directions.

Will there be support for Altivec? Ever? Never? I thought we were supposed to get that in 4. C'mon Ableton, we've been asking since 2001 and it never materializes. This is version 5 for crying out loud. :?

I have had my 20" 2ghz iMac for about a month and I love it. However it is really heavy and I woud not want to lug it around. I use a MOTU 828 and it is fast and runs Live beautifully. No issues here. Already posted my stats on the cpu thread. 29 - 30% with the test file. It has exceeded my exp...

global record

So I invited some friends to come over and I used to be able to enable several tracks to record at once simply by arming them and clicking the scene play button. But not anymore. Did the Abe's change something in 4.1.2? What am I forgetting? Is there a magic button in 4.1.2 that I missed?

It is so much quieter than my 800mhz powerbook. It is practically silent. I don't hear a fan...but the powerbook is noisey. My vacuum cleaner is quieter than my powerbook.

Finally an affordable Mac with respectable performance. I will post again after I get another stick of matched RAM. Dual Channel is supposed to give better performance...we'll see.

So when Ableton says, "Audio performance has been optimized for Macintosh computers", they don't mean Altivec? I see about 1/3 less cpu drain on average for my Powerbook. Something got optimized if not Altivec?
